Default HDRL: Why do we collect?

A few of you already know about the site I start back last August: High Dynamic Range Lying. Things are chugging along with the site, but I thought I'd start posting links to new editorials on EoE, so you all know when they go up.

This week's editorial is a topic I've been pondering for a while: Why do we collect games? Maybe some of you aren't a collectors, but a large portion of gamers collect games pretty heavily. Other than being a pack-rat, why do we do it?

HDRL explores this phenomenon within!

Heh,

Very nice article. I got about 20? 'Games Collection's here... True, I wouldn't dream of selling them! 12 of them I do not play anymore, and 4 of those 12 I absolutely hate...

I collect the games in a 'The Games Collection' CD sheet. But I am sort off a cheapass...

For the win,
Servitor

you forgot the console collector,

a friend of mine can vouch for owning every licensed game for nes, some he even has multiple copies (he's got like 5 copies of action 52 for christ sake!)

I my self collect snes games, i'm pushing over 150,soon as i start making enough money to buy a bed (and maybe some pillows to go with it, so i can stop using a pile of cloths) i'll buy some more!

also the corporate collector (i own about 80% of koei games released in the US)

nice zorbon

well i have 27 ps2 games, i dont hate any of them, most i love thats why i still have em ^^
usually i sell old games to buy new ones for ps2
also roughly 50 pc games gathered from time when "IBM" meant computer , around 20 ps1 games and handful of c64 cassettes

thats my stash ^^'

and i "collect" games because ever since i learned to use my fingers i have played games, so its kinda natural for me

**EDIT**: Replied to spam (zorbon)

Anybody who buys power leveling services is sorry. As are the people who sell the services. It makes the game pointless.
