Default Aikijutsu

I have been studying Aikido lately, and it bares a lot of similiarities to Ninjutsu. Maybe we should have an Aikijutsu dojo, as a front. Good students would recieve...special training .

Sounds pretty cool. Even better would be if we had several trainers with their own style, that way we have a diverse group of fighters and can pair them for missions, etc. depending on their style and level of ability. Ooo that would be cool. XD

Well there is similarities between Aikido and Ninjutsu but the thing is you could say theres similarities between every martial art. Aikido isn't really considered a martial art its using your opponents force against them without using hardly any force. i.e. punches, kicks etc..

Mixing the two in game would be great though

Probably the most dramatic differences are in ideology and inclusions. Aikido is very much a focus on unifying your energies and the energies of those around you, hence using an opponent's strength against them. The similarities between ninjutsu and aikido likely arise in the fact that many martial arts trace their roots from similar places or branches of schools.

Ninjutsu is set apart from Aikido with lessons that are taught as well (or at least, in many formal schools), using for example the Togakura-ryu style of ninjutsu, in which military strategy, meteorology and geology are key parts of knowledge for the school of martial arts.

And Aikido is definitely a martial art, stemming from Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu. Of course, the major portions of Aikido and Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu were developed and fleshed out only in the early 1900s, which may make it a little unrealistic if you actually name it similarly in Tatsumakai.

Lately I've been learning Soo Bahk Do (along with my Aikido). It is very similar to Kung-Fu, but with a few small elements of Japanese karate. I like it alright, one thing I really like about it is that the instructor teaches the breathing aspect of a move before he shows it, and constantly reinforces proper breathing while training.

Aikijutsu eh? Sounds cool, I was attending shotokan karate for a while but then I quit. Now I study martial arts on my own (books etc.)
