Yeah, that's right. Ninjutsu is a useful "Skill" for Shinobi but it's not absolutely necessary, just like "Shuriken" and "Nekode Claws" aren't required to be a ninja.

Similarly, you don't need a farm to be a farmer...but it helps.

Jutsu means skill, technique, etc. So any skill is a jutsu. Kenjutsu, taijutsu, kyujutsu, battojutsu, etc. And I think you do need a farm to be a farmer, otherwise you're a farmhand/sharecropper.

Oh hurray, someone who realizes this. See? That's why I usually type "Ninjutsu" instead of "Ninjitsu":

"Nin" is "Man" or "Person".
"Jutsu" is "Art" or "Technique".
"Jitsu" is "kindness".

Despite the fact that in Japanese it is pronounced neither way, ( The actual pronunciation is kind of a mix between the two, sort of like "Ninjyutsu". ) when translating people often translate to either Ninjutsu or Ninjitsu.

Since typing "Ninjyutsu" is extremely uncommon ( But some people do use it ), I like to use Ninjutsu instead because meaning-wise, it just makes alot more sense.

If you know Japanese you should be aware that in this case the translation nin=hidden makes more sense...

Agreed. Also Japanese vowels are pronounced different from English ones. A=ah, E=eh, I=long English E, O=oh, U=oo. So Ninjutsu=Neenjootsoo, but fast.

Luckily Japanese pronounciation has many similiarities to German's.
