it only takes one person crying foul to ruin it for everyone. I totally agree that it would be cool but in any group there is always that person that gets their feelings hurt.

Yes the #1 reason why its set pre-Portuguese (As in, pre-western weaponry (Guns)) is due to them bringing guns... The bonus in this choice is the lack of Christianity, and the horrible mess that followed.

Hmm hmm, if it's pre-Portuguese, then we'll only have Buddhism and Shinto, which -by that time- already coexist peacefully. The great fights between the different sects are also just history by then.

No Christians... pity... I wouldn't mind executing a few of those odd people, who try to open the country for an invasion by those tall, hairy monkies.

I suppose there is the possibility of a few lone Christian missionaries who wound up in Japan at that time.

Is that so... Excuse me while I shall order the construction of a few crosses and larger cauldrons so that we can cook them... errrrr... I mean... cook for them. *cough!*

Yeah I am a Christian and as bad as this could go wrong it could add SO much more depth. If there was a persecution it would be incredible and would increase the tension in the major cities. If you got caught with a bible you could be put in jail or even executed for repeat offenses. The bible has its advantages however, and is used for something really cool (couldnt think of anything).

I don't know tho, if we are catering to immature brats I guess it would be best to leave it out
