Default Shogun 2

It is here! Finally!! At last it is here!

SEGA has announced the development of Shogun 2 Total War, ten years after the original Total War game. Release is rumoured to be sometime in 2011.

Here is the official website.

Looks interesting... never got into any of their other games but this looks promising.

Shogun is still my favorite out of all the Total War games. Add in the graphics of Napoleon and this is going to be mind-numbing. Hopefully the AI will up the game play.
Might have to take a day off from work when it gets released.

I'm curious as to how they'll handle multiplayer, if they do at all.

I don't know about the newer Total War games, but I played a decent amount of the multiplayer in the first Medieval: Total War. I was dissapointed because the multiplayer only included the rts battles, and not any of the risk style cloth-map gameplay. I understand they did that because turn based games where a turn can take so long, online, generally don't work (exception: Heroes of Might and Magic ... at times you dont know if the other person left the computer or is just taking a long term, but if you play with voice chat or just with friends, it's a great deal of fun). I'd like to see something like HoMM had, or like Elemental: War of Magic is going to have.

That said, I'll still be playing the hell out of this regardless of any online capability.

From what I know of Empires and Napoleon, the multiplayer is just battles.
You can even be in a single player campaign and then request someone jump in and take over for a battle. Haven't done it myself.

This is great, but I'm hoping that they improve upon it from Napoleon: Total War, rather than basically make it the same thing with medieval Japan instead; graphics, gameplay, music quality, characters, battlefield units, historical events, and most of all historical accuracy.
