Default Unique sword fighting styles customizable by players

I have an idea for sword fighting styles that you could invest in.

I got this idea from the PS2 game "Kengo"

My idea that you should developed a variety of different schools of sword fighting styles (that players will have to discover for themselves). Then once a characters has learn any style be able to choose a combo or technique or a certain move from the style they learned and use it in battle. This combination they use may prove to be effective. (eg combination of leg sweeps and low attacks). Once they master there style perhaps they could learn other moves from another style. This gives a more unique style for each player. This then means that players can all have different combos and techniques that they like.

Tell me what you think if you understand what i meant.

Well Hijikata, I'll tell you this: I like your curiosity and stuff (it's been a month or so since the last time we had gameplay-related discussions) and it's something I missed dearly. However, some of your question get me thinking whether or not you've visited the "Wiki". Many answers are there already.

If I'm not mistaken, the game will have several different styles and techniques you can learn to create your own arsenal of skills. Some fighting styles will be taught at dojos (initially NPC dojos, then player dojos later) and people will share techniques with eachother and such. You can learn something from several different styles and use those techniques together in combat, I believe.

A very diverse swordplay experience indeed. ^^

I thought gameplay was unique already? If I remember correctly, I read somewhere on the wiki that you use your mouse to "swing" your sword if you're equipped with one. That or it determined the momentum of your sword. I think the system as suggested right now is fine as it is and does not actually hold any limitations.

I actually personally prefer the whole 'mouse to swing, /or/ button combination', as mouse-to-swing favors those with an actual mouse and forsakes the ever-forgotten touch-pad users.

Not a whole lot of people use laptops for mmos. So, I think that controls would cater to the majority.

I believe all of these were mentioned as possibilities in the forums - but I can't quite remember if they ever announced one as the "chosen one".

The method of combat is still up in the air, I think that the crew would like to be a little farther along before they make it concrete.
