Tatsumaki will never become entirely free to play. While we do intend to have a limited (by features, not time) free account option, without subscription fees there's no way we could pay the server and bandwidth bills.
As for cancellation, we obviously can't guarantee that it won't happen. We're a little fish in a big pond, as it were, and there are many, many pitfalls down the road that could lead to the game ultimately being unsuccessful. The concept is novel, the budget is low, and the team is smaller than most of our competitors'. Despite all this, however, we've been working hard on this for years now. Sykoi in particular has never wavered in his faith that this game will be released.
Consider the Tatsumaki pre-order an investment. If the game fails, though we will be working as hard as we can to make sure that doesn't happen, you will have lost your money. If, on the other hand, Tatsumaki is successful, you will have a lifetime of membership and a very special status in the game and its community.
