This thread is for anyone wanting to post any drawings of basically anything, not just art related to Tatsumaki.
Please try to mainly post art, but you can compliment each others artwork.
Anywho, I'll get the ball rolling with a fun little sketch of me (right) and my friend (left) and some weird little head.
(Possibly character designs for a future web-comic?)

The BEST investment you can possibly get if you're looking to do digital art is a wacom tablet: http://www.wacom.com - kinda pricey but it helps in the long run. The merman picture took me 6+ to do with the traditional mouse, and the elf one only took me two or three with my tablet.
Use that and layers, and you're golden. :D

Hey all...I've been messing around with Jasc Paint Shop Pro...and random bits and pieces of pictures to create one full woman. My only issue is clothing...right now she wears a tank top thing (for decency). Any ideas on what to do?
Also...critisicm please :) though remember, the eyes, nose/mouth, head, hair, braid, both arms, and torso are all different pictures.

Here's one I did quickly tonight. I know it's kind of tilted, and parts of the body seem big compared to others.
Anyways, it's a sketch of what I want my ninja character to look like in game, though I doubt it will end up looking anything like this.
Um.. Ninja.. here is my gift to you.. i straightened him out.
ninjaxmaster

Sometimes I just can't help it when I draw, it just ends up being at an angle, so thank you very much for straightening that out for me!

still looks like an assassin :P - the katars and most of the bandages >.>
ninjaxmaster
08-23-2005, 10:11 AM
Well, I never know what to do with the pants from that era, so I just kind of tied em off with bandage type things, but they're also in place to keep him more compact so he can be more agile and dexterous. He's got the fastest swords in the east :-p .... (If you don't get it, it's kind of a joke on 'the fastest gun in the west'... yeah, I'm not too funny...)

Kimono, obi. That;s how it should be with the women, but i guess there are other variations depending on what you need to get done throughout the day. And the clothing will come from the 1500s ingame.

Ok, Shina, I quickly whipped up this representation of what a common woman might look like in the game, not 100% on this though, Hiromi would know, as I think she's doing concept art on the dev team (speaking of which, Hiromi are other concept art positions still open?)
Anyways... Here you go Shina (sorry if it looks like she's flipping you off, but she actually has two fingers up, playing with her hair...)

Dude her head is huge! .. that is all
More so her hair is huge, but yeah, I tend to draw the head first, then when i add the body it seems tiny compared to the head, so i try to shrink the head down, but it usually ends up bad.
Kiros
08-28-2005, 07:26 PM
i learned to sketch everything before drawing and shading, but usually proportion is the head is 5 1/2 the size of the body or 7 times the body.. like the body itself is as tall as 7 heads understand?
Chronor
08-28-2005, 08:16 PM
I was understood that on an actuall Human being. Being completely proportional, your about 5-6 heads tall.

That's what I do too, when I said draw the head first, i meant sketch.
Anyways, to measure that should i just draw a few heads to see how big it should be?
Kiros
08-28-2005, 10:14 PM
My mind is set to automatically destinguse how the body is proportioned.. you shouldnt need to draw 5-6 heads.. *er sketch* but i would draw out the general form of what you want just to see how it will look .
Shina more information on Kimono's :::\
For women in particular, traditional japanese clothing like the kimono is not only worn based on the persons age but also by their marital status. Young unmarried women wear kimono with long sleeves that are very vibrant, colorful and rich with patterns. Married women or older women would wear simpler more subdued clothes.

i think the colouring is good, shading should show more definition in the ups and downs of the character's body. I think you should ink it though, would give it a more professional look. But overall, I think you did a pretty good job, just be more mindful of where your shaded and highlighted areas should be.

Shina you're coming along brilliantly with your CGing...especially for being stuck with just Jasc ^_^ Only tips I've got for CGing are the obvious, take full advantage of the layers, etc. Smudge tool is always your friend. Not a genius.

I happen to have a small curse where I cannot, I repeat, cannot make facial features or hands turn out. I can usually hide the hands...but the face? -_- Drawing bodies/bodies-in-action...that I can do. Other thing is I'm still really new to the whole idea of "folds" in clothing. Kinda hard to place. I know what looks right, I just can't force my hand to do it.
*loves the smudge tool* Another good one is the "push" tool...but I don't use that as much. More hints/critizisem (spelling?) is always welcome!
And yes, I want Photoshop...but all I've got is Jasc...so I'll make it work.

okay, so yes I am ... I just see the -brilliant- artists out there...and how many of them there are, and get discouraged.
I know what I want my art to look like, but getting there is an issue.
Bahh you can't let yourself get down about it. I mean, if you look at it that way - it's just as absurd as a little kid not going out for the football team because he's not as good as an NFL player. o___o
There are tons of artists out there that I won't even come CLOSE to matching in skill, but it doesn't matter - I love doing it. Do what you like to do, regardless of anyone else. Back in my freshman year of HS, I drew my first (and last) self portrait. I spent HOURS on it. Took it to school, showed it to the kid i was in *zomglove* with, and he LAUGHED at me. >.>
I decided to go home, get awesome, and shove it down his throat. Been drawing ever since. :D I think you've got a lot of talent, and I know a trick for faces, i'll scan an example in when I get home from work. Just keep drawing more! *cheers for Shina*

AAAHHH!!! I'm the happiest person on the planet right now!! I stumbled across a site www.fanartcentral.com to be exact, that had a bunch of old drawings that I thought had been lost forever. *hugs site* I had comments I hadn't checked since April of '03 >.>
ANYWAY!!! Here's all my old junk!
The Tidus one is from forever ago..not quite sure ...i'm thinking '02...along with the kid with the freakishly long neck and no shoulders...wanted to show how much I sucked :D
******************
The last two drawings I threw this together as a guide for anybody that's having trouble with faces. I know Shina mentioned it earlier, so I figured I'd impart some of my wisdom. ^_^
And I aplogize for the craptastic drawings. It's 7AM and I've gotten no sleep >.>
Faces get really easy to draw the more you doodle with them, and if you know the tricks. If you guys already know all this junk then..fine :P I tried, anyway :D

I dunno, I think it'd mean more to me if I got something like that for my birthday than a lot of the crap I normally get :)
Personally I think just money is the best birthday present, but relatives/friends/girlfriends tend to disagree, which is a bit of a bummer.

So I modded the iRO's Transcendant class 'Stalker' into what I thought they should've made. It's a 'Brawler', like a fist fighter, only not with martial arts such as the monk/champion is, and it doesn't use any weapons, unless a new class of like glove/knuckle crossovers were made. Anyways, just thought it would've been the natural next step to RO's take on the 'rogue' class (like a neighbourhood bully/criminal), the stalker is still pretty cool though... I'll try to make a drawing of what it would look like ...you know, non-pixelated...
thats a pretty decent mod for that sprite, i think it looks a little sloppy in some parts. but yeah RO was so damn fun, if u ever start gettin into it let me know, and let me know where to get the install files cause ill play with u

There's a private server I might join called EuphRO, if you're into those... It's just the files take forever to DL so I don't want to do it... anyways, I'll get the link for you later.
And here's the sketched out version of the 'Brawler'. *hopes no one notices I use the same hairstyle on all my drawings. :-P

Something is off about it, otherwise its pretty normal looking, maybe the hair. and the arm is like half the size of his torso (width)
Hiromi, that Frodo picture is probably my favorite on the whole forums, and the pirate one was way cool too. Good job!!

Now, there is something that you don't see everyday. Courtesy among stalkers. I also can't believe you would want any more artistic skill after your masterpiece of an entry in the concept art contest.

So, I tried my hand at anime style again, I haven't really drawn this way in a long while, so it started out as test to see if I could do anime faces fine (which, evidently, I cannot), but it looked alot like my friend... if she were anime...so I drew the rest of it...
it looks pretty okay. except for the extremely disproportioned arm, and the extra sized balloons, i think its okay.
Hakinhi
01-14-2006, 07:07 AM
Whats wrong with the balloons. Rangiku Matsumoto from Bleach has bigger ones than those.

the one that's up in the air (I assume so), or the one that's basically not visible, due to it being behind the torso. If it's the one in the air, I guess it looks a little big, if it's the one behind her, it was appear as though it's small, but it's actually bent, but her torso is in the way so you can't really see that. As for her 'balloons', they're really actually pretty big, not as giant as the one's I drew, but you know, anime breasts...

As far as the arm being "too big" in the one done by ninjaxmaster; I completely disagree. It's not the arm "being too big" that causes disproportion. It comes from the shoulder being too high. The breasts are almost parallel, but the shoulders are at a sharp angle from one another. It's an unatural position. It's fairly common for this to happen. When the drawing nears "completion"(I use quotes because artwork is never complete), the artist simply has a larger gap than is needed, but uses it all anyway, rather than redoing a whole section. Moreover, the arm being so close to the head(which appears a tad small to me) adds to the illusion of it being overtly large.
Drop the right shoulder(her left) just a little, and the arm size will decrease appropriately.
Edit: Taking another look at it, I would like to change my suggestion. Lift the left shoulder(her right). Increase the head size just a bit.

oh, thank you, I was really unsure of which arm they were referring to, you really clarified that for me :) . I probably won't bother to fix it though, as it wasn't meant to be a great drawing or anything, plus I don't want to go through the hassle of erasing it and re-drawing a good part of it. Thanks though, I'll keep all that information in mind for future drawings.

Great drawing Kiros. But I prefer a lighter samurai drawing.I think it shouldn't be so visible,it should dissapear among the other lines. So everyone will see a different thing in your drawing. For example I see a part of a giant fish on the right.Again very very very good piece of art and color selection. You have a great talent.Keep up the great work.

Wow, Kiros... you're definitely a Samurai with that kind of art ability! I'm very impressed by the talent in this thread, you guys make me jealous! My art-work consists of stick figures with horribly malformed clothes attached to them... or an 8-bit moogle. 8-bit is art, right!?
