Ok, good guesses for last riddle, though I think it was a bit too easy. 1500 points to the first correct answers here, have to answer both riddles correctly to win the points - good luck!
Riddle 1: I can be used to burn,
I can be used to quell,
I can be used to learn,
but best for the stories I tell.
Riddle 2: I surround you, like it or not,
mostly folks give me no real thought,
a game named after me, youth do play,
I can help keep your memories,
and sometimes can keep you safe from harm,
you take me for granted more times than not,
I surround you, like it or not.

Moses wins! Really good guesses, and I give Kaze credit for getting close answer, and Trin credit for getting correct answer for first riddle - good guesses. Paper and walls were the answer - paper walls were used in construction of Japanese homes.
