This thread will be a compound discussion of phylosophical ideals and what they mean to us. Please only serious posts. Anyone may comment on another post made by another member but make sure to seperate it from the phylosophy part of your posts.
I will start it off with one that Sicarius gave me:
Whether people be of high or low birth, rich or poor, old or young, enlightened or confused, they are all alike in that they will one day die. It is not that we don't know that we are going to die, but we grasp at straws. While knowing that we will die someday, we think that all the others will die before us and that we will be the last to go. Death seems a long way off.
--Hagakure, The Book of the Samurai--By Yamamoto Tsunetomo
All of your post need not be from a book or famous author. I encourage any freelance thoughts and ideals that you may think of. And by all means, have fun.

It is foolish to forget the past, or to fail to consider the future, and it is even more regretable to forget the period that has the highest bearing over one's life; the present.
One must balance these 3 parts of life, and not hold on to one more than another,
for all 3 together, are what makes up life. A life without a past is no life, a life without a present is no life, and a life without a future, is not a life. Without these 3, you have no life.

This next one is a question that can mean many things:
You see a child sitting on a curb...the roads seem to split in hundreds of directions...in front of him are signs pointing in those different directions....some signs are lying on the ground, pointing no where anymore...some have rusted down and broken.....What does this mean to you?
Sicarius
07-20-2005, 06:19 PM
There are many roads in life, and there wont allways be someone to
show you the way, you have
to follow your heart, and even when those that were there to guide you in your life are
gone, there is one part of them that
will allways remain; their teachings. One must not only consider the wisdom of the living,
but also that of the deceased,
because the past holds many answers...answers that the living might not have been
aware of.

Everyone is cursed with the knowledge of Death, understanding your enevitablity prepares you for it. But:
To Wait for It, is meaningless
To Look for it, is foolish
To Embrace it, is what makes you ready for it.
Sicarius

But how can one embrace what one cannot find? And how can one find what one cannot look for?
Kiros

But how can one embrace what one cannot find? And how can one find what one cannot look for?
You do not seek death, it seeks you. If you look for it, it will only come more quickly.
Thus the embrace of death comes as something you can not find but something you accept as a fact, to seek it would be to end ones exsistance. By acceptence one may live life to its fullest.
Death is a part of life, by emracing death you embrace life.
Both are just an absract thought to which we label in sad attempt to understand and accept these realities.

Aye, very true....
I am including in this post another quote form Hagakure, I have posted it within the Blood wheel forums, but I feel that it needs to be reposted..here, where it is most applicable to the current subject. This quote is one that I try to incorporate into my everday life, and though I lack fear and compassion, as well as some other basic human emotions, I finally feel as if I am able to live my life without regrets.
Meditation on inevitable death should be performed daily. Every day when one's body and mind are at peace, one should meditate upon being ripped apart by arrows, rifles, spears and swords, being carried away by surging waves, being thrown into the midst of a great fire, being struck by lightning, being shaken to death by a great earthquake, falling from thousand-foot cliffs, dying of disease or committing seppuku at the death of one's master. And every day without fail one should consider himself as dead.
There is a saying of the elders' that goes, "Step from under the eaves and you're a dead man. Leave the gate and the enemy is waiting." This is not a matter of being careful. It is to consider oneself as dead beforehand. --Hagakure
When applying an ideal such as this to your life, one must be cautious and fearful, I sometimes feel that I am not truly alive, do to the fact that I consider myself as a dead man, I don't have fear in me, atleast, not for myself, but I do have fear for those I love. I'm not trying to seem tough, but this passage truly means alot to me...It helped me get by when I needed the courage to stand up against those that wished me harm...

When and if you embrace death as an everyday occurance do not forget the fact that you are living now and your life has not yet ended. It is the most innate trait of man and animal alike to survive and pass on your genes as best you can. It is also important to remember the factor of time as a major impact on your life. Do not always think before you act. To live freely is to except that you will someday die. Believe me when I say this...It is better to live free and in the open. If you live this way, your mind will almost always be at peace with yourself and the world around you.

Something that came up in fC(Flashchat)
Chaos cannot survive forever, society cannot survive without rules and laws. After War, and before war, peace and tranquility will lose its effect. And chaos will enter, but no matter what happens in the end. Order will rise, whether it be from heroes, or from gangsters.
Someone will have to take charge, either for their own goals, or for others fates.

dont know if this translates right, hope it does. I got a lot of things to and a lot of things going on, if i can, ill try to edit this.

Life and Death; When something dies it ushers in something new, bring life to something once dead. Like your chaos and peace, in order for one to live the other must die. In many ways, these things are dependant on each other, without light there would be no dark, without peace, chaos could never disrupt. Balance is always achieve in nature, it is the way things are and will forever be like the swinging of a pendulum.

What is a door? Is it a checkpoint, a obstacle, a portal to another realm of unsurpassed brilliance? You never know until you step up to the door, examine its locks and appearance. Even then, what do we know of it until we try to walk through it. And what could be on the other side. An enemy, an allie, a neutral party, a love, a friend, a follower, a mentor, or a number of other things? Is there anything there at all. Again, you never know till you step through. You may not realise it....but everytime you walk through a doorway you may be building up your good fortune or spelling your inevitable doom...

Well ... if i can obtain inner peace and yet lead a chaotic life does that mean that i have found the best way of life? ... chaos does not destroy peace, it only changes how it is percieved... some of the inner workings of the human heart can only obtain stability when it causes havoc on others, it cant heal itself...
the mind can only heal others with little effort, while it struggles with itself to fix its faults...
and your quote comes from many movies toshimaru ... many many movies...

Ninety-Nine Things You Need To Know:
There are ninety-nine things you need to know.
1.) There are more than ninety-nine things you need to know.
2.) Nobody knows how many things there are to know.
3.) It's more than three.
4.) There is no way of know how many things you need to know.
5.) Some the things you need to know are things you already know.
6.) Some of the things you need to know are things you only think you know.
7.) Some of the things you need to know are things you used to know and then forget.
8.) Some of the things you need to know are things you only thought you forgot and actually still know.
9.) Some of the things you need to know are things you know but don't really know you know.
10.) Some of the things you need to know are things you don't yet know you need to know.
11.) Some of the things you think you need to know are things you probably don't really need to know.
12.) Some of the things you need to know are things know only by people you dont' know.
13.) Some of the things you need to know are things nobody knows.
14.) Some of the things you need to know are things that are unknowable.
15.) Some of the things you need to know are things that can only be imagined.
16.) At any time the list of things you need to know can be abruptly suspended.
Now you Know.

Do what comes naturally. The only person you need to account for is yourself. This may in turn cause you to account for others because it is what you want. Never be hindered by anyone or anything. Whatever is within your means (and I'm not talking what is legal, moral, etc.) you can do. You can lie, steal, kill, or anything else within your physical abilities. You need only reckon with yourself. A person is only limited by their prowess, not by rules or laws.

If you set a man on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life.
