The forum was recently down for about 10 hours, this is due to the fact that someone on our server was running phpBB 2.0.6; a 'Script kiddy' used the numerous bugs in this version of phpBB to exploit our system, take down MySQL, and upload a worm that would do the same to many other systems.
If you run phpBB, I suggest you update your version before this happens to you - or switch to another forum software.
A few suggestions:
*SMF: http://www.simplemachines.org/
*vBulletin (Paid): http://www.vbulletin.com/
Stay away from:
*Any forum that hasn't been around for at least a year
*Invision Power Board (Free): Several exploits
*Invision Power Board (Paid): Low customer support, many complaints that go unanswered
*phpBB (Any version): Riddled with bugs, exploits pop up every few weeks, and unclean code.
