In celebration of my heritage, I'm going to widen all your lingual horizons... *ahem*

Penga eller livet.
Your money or your life.

Vær så snill å gi meg noen klær, jeg er naken.
Please give me some clothes, I am naked.

Kan jeg få låne ølen din?
May I borrow your beer?

:D For Trin

The next time I'm stranded in Norway without money, beer or clothes, I'll know what to do. Why do I have the feeling Hiromi is going to ensure that such a situation comes to pass? >.>

Indeed, these are essential phrases, pehapes you need a beer, Kan jeg få låne ølen din? The man says no, so you take a different approch.
Perhapes you threaten a man, Penga eller livet. then he beats you up and steals everything you own and you need to beg on the streets, Vær så snill å gi meg noen klær, jeg er naken.

At thats how it happened..

What a fun coincidence! The day after this thread is made, I join, and I happen to be from Norway. how fun to see you guys writing Norwegian. ^--^
Hiromi: Do you know Nowegian? All of it, I mean? Or just phrases like these?

Penga eller livet.
Your money or your life.
Stricktly speaking, penga is slang. You should use pengene if you want to be entirely correct. Though penga would maybe be better when speaking, well, with this epression at least. And direktly translated it's "The money or the life" It might be weird in english, but it works in Norwegian.

Kan jeg få låne ølen din?
May I borrow your beer?
I wouldn't think this is a common phrase, at least not where I'm from. Like it is, you'd be expected to hand the beer back. I would say "kan jeg få en øl?" "Can I have a beer?" would be better.

And I would like to supplement this collection with my own.
"Se, en elg." "Look, a moose."

That's awesome! Welcome to the forums :D Actually, no, I don't speak norwegian. Wish I did! I actually have life insurance through Sons of Norway - and I get packets with phrases. Like, "Do you know how to dogsled?" XD Makes me laugh every time.

I have Nordic ancestry, namely part Swede, part Danish, very very proud of it - and the main reason I played Dark Ages of Camelot - to be a Viking.

We recently celebrated 100 years since we ut loose from Sweeden, and that went fairly ok. Only 7000 deaths and riots..

Kidding. The most hostile thing happening between Norway and Sweeden now is making jokes about each other.

Acctually, many Norwegians living close to the border often cross it to buy cheap goods there.

Edit: In "SC"? What did you mean by that?

Norway is a great country. For some reason a lot of Scandanavians drawn to this community. I tried to figure a connection, but not sure.
