hey everybody, since this is the section for any sort of discussion, i was wondering what movies you all like. I thuroughly enjoy anime movies, my favorite being Akira, though i rarely get to watch them, because most of the time i just watch movies with friends and for some reason they all look at anime as a lower form of cinema, i don't see why, the stories are quite fantastic, i also like martial arts films, though i havr not seen many, i like crouching tiger hidden dragon, and seven samurai. i have yet to see House of Flying Daggers, i was going to purchase it today, but it's highly over priced, but i might just buy the combo which has HoFD and CTHD for only $7 more than HoFD alone. anyways, i also like pulp fiction, not the genre, but the film, i found the collectors edition at a low price recently, but i didn't have enough cash on hand for it, so i'll have to go back and get it, anyways, that's the majority of films i like. some others are Jurassic Park, spaceballs , se7en ( starring brad pitt and morgan freeman, if you haven't seen it and enjoy suspense/thrillers, you should see this.) Anyways, if any of you have seen House of Flying Daggers, tell me how if it's good! :)

If we're going for live movies, i have a lot. But if we're going for anime, i got a lot too; but technically, i'd go for Miyazaki's works. The man is a god, i like the music and creatures and worlds that he creates. :puppy_dog

Which 'Of Mice and Men' is it? i saw the one with, John Malkovich, I think is his name. I quite enjoyed it, but my classmates all hated it for one reason or another ( We watched it in our english class after reading the novel. a good, but short read.). I don't know why students always hate the films their teachers pick out...

Just a lot of gratitious blood splatter, nothing really bad, I think some decapitations and dismemberments maybe.

If you enjoyed Shogun Assassin, i suggest you track down the Lone Wolf and Cub series that it was basically ripped from. I believe there are six movies in all, all incredible, all graphically violent.

Isn't shogun assassin the same thing as Lone Wolf and Cub? I was looking for it on various electronics and movie websites and they often show as the same thing or will have Shogun Assassin AKA Lone Wolf and Cub AKA Baby Cart. I just assumed Shogun Assassin was the first in the series of Lone Wolf and Cub films.

From what i understand, Shogun Assassin is basically key scenes taken from the first two Lone Wolf and Cub films and edited together in one movie with added narration by a grown-up Daigoro. I don't know if they've done anything different recently.

I personally think it's one of Spielberg's best movies. The use of destiny and how uncertain life is when you know your destiny is so compelling. I also loved the cinematography.

yep, it was a great movie, with all the futuristic designs. But, hopefully in our reality, our cars dont get auto-drive in the highways. And the identification with the Eyes, that was a great thing.

Those aren't cars. If you notice, the lexus he drives after the chase scene in the factory is what cars are like. Highways use a sophisticated maglev track. Those are merely passenger compartments that are connected to apartments around the city. If you notice, they swivel, etc.

I really wrestled with the predestination factor when Cruise charged into the room, hoping to change the future. Also made me question my morals and if what I thought was right maybe wasn't exactly true. A lot of compelling issues in that movie, also pretty entertaining.

Arc System Works (the guys behind Guilty Gear) are working on a Fist of the North Star fighting game, complete with awesome high res sprites. It runs on Atomiswave (arcade board).

Yeah, Army Of Darkness has to be one of my favorite movies, if not my favorite. That movie's unforgettable; Evil Dead was good too, but Army Of Darkness has all the great cliches, and one liners..

Ok I dont know if this thread is for good movies or your favorite movies, but heres a couple Ive seen that are pretty good and you should watch and probably havent already.

Requiem for a Dream (American)
Battle Royale (Japanese)
Yojimbo (Japanese)
Seven Samurai (Japanese)
Suicide Club (Japanese)

I know most of these movies are japanese, but Im not some sort of japanese movie buff. I have know of other movies its just youve probably seen them already. Anyway top 2 on the list are Requiem for a Dream for all you stoners out there and Battle Royale if you like movies that are kinda screwed up.

That last one, Suicide Club isnt so much good as it is just completely :censored: up. Really I want you to watch just so someone can explain it to me. I just finished watching it at my friends house and I probably said "What the frak" about 10 times after it ended. More times if you count during the movie. Please, someone explain it to me.
