View Full Version : Is anybody on FlashChat? Chronor 07-03-2005, 10:56 PM I get on periodically and all i see is Sic...who is (away) and the occasional other. Just asking if anyone actually uses it and if so...should we all group together and chat? Just a thought!? ShininShado 07-04-2005, 05:55 AM I do, but have been working night shift recently, which means more sleeping. I plan to get back at mid week, and we've had some good conversations on there so far. Trin 07-04-2005, 12:51 PM I'm on there occasionally. I don't really come on at a set time, so it's hard to anticipate catching anyone. The only people I've caught on flashchat are Rez, Slots, Sicarius, Moses, and once, Sykoi. moses 07-04-2005, 07:12 PM yep im on there but i havent been on cuz of the fourth! ShininShado 07-07-2005, 08:00 PM 8 people there now, with active discussion on game related topics. Kiros 07-10-2005, 07:21 PM Im in flashchat too much, i sit around waiting for people to enter, even when im not on the computer im in flash chat heh. SmokeDragon 07-10-2005, 07:48 PM I'm on sometimes. Kuzukago 07-10-2005, 08:34 PM I've been popping in every once in a while today. ShininShado 07-11-2005, 06:36 AM 7 people last night, good discussion - evenings US time seem like best time to find folks. moses 07-11-2005, 09:55 AM indeed, i normally am busy till about 4pm central time. And yes we did have some awesome discussions last night. Slots 07-11-2005, 01:16 PM see... spending hte whole weekend to play through Suikoden 4 (in hte process of getting everyone to 99 and hten beating it before wednesday when i gotta return it to the store... hah) means im not paying attention to FC ... but i should go pop in there sometime at the end of the week ShininShado 07-12-2005, 07:22 AM By neglecting it... it will wither away and die. Enjoy talking in there when I'm not working swing shifts, should be back next week more often. Trin 07-12-2005, 03:45 PM I really wish more people idled in Flashchat. Usually it's only myself and moses idling there. People tend to come in, chat and then leave. I guess I'm just used to the IRC channel I hung in for about 10 years. There were always about 20 people idling. Sykoi 07-12-2005, 03:54 PM The problem with idling in Flashcaht is that it takes up so much processing power. I think we'll start enforcing the IRC channel again soon, just because its easier to idle there. Trin 07-12-2005, 05:08 PM The problem with idling in Flashcaht is that it takes up so much processing power. I think we'll start enforcing the IRC channel again soon, just because its easier to idle there. From what I've heard from many people who talk in Flashchat, many people have trouble logging into any Stratics server besides Glowfish (irc.glowfish.de). From my experience, I've had the same problem. I'm not sure if the other servers are dead, or just having connection problems, but I wonder if we should look to another network to host the channel on, like Enter the Game (irc.enterthegame.com). Sanctus 07-13-2005, 03:32 AM Well, only reason I dont idle in Flashchat is it really makes my computer and internet slow, I dont know why, but it does. Ussualy evry time I do in there I only stay about 10-15 minutes because the PC gets so slow and I cant do anything else. Slots 07-13-2005, 05:43 AM Flash Chat eats at the proccessing power of your computer ... irc has had many many more years to make itself efficient... and i have no problems conecting to stratics through stratics.afraidyet.net ... ShininShado 07-13-2005, 07:26 AM There were 8 people in FlashChat last night, Neko was discussing some sort of word game, which sounded interesting - I was distracted with baby. The main problems with IRC was different channels and servers so that even if you could log in, chances are where everyone was idling at was another channel or server. Maybe having one main server and channel would eliminate that, not sure. Abc 07-14-2005, 10:28 PM I'm on it every now and again. i usually check it at least once day. Shira ShininShado 07-14-2005, 10:48 PM In my experiences there's been more people in FlashChat than in IRC at any given time. I agree that FlashChat is cumbersome though. Greven 07-15-2005, 04:28 PM I prefer flashchat over there mere fact that it's so easily accessable. A lot of people have found IRC to be a nuisance. Both in understanding the software and everything that comes with it once you get rolling. Still, FlashChat -is- a server killer, and definetly won't hold in the long run. The question is just how we should go about attracting the community to use IRC... Hiromi 07-15-2005, 04:57 PM Well, realistically, the easiest way to get people to use IRC, is get rid of Flashchat >.> I know it's a lot easier just to click the little link and be done with it. Or maybe post an IRC tutorial for the idiots of the bunch? Myself included :D ShininShado 07-15-2005, 09:38 PM I think more positive has come from FlashChat than negative, I'm for whatever makes the forums and game concept better which in my opinion it has if even to a small extent. Right now 8 folks in FlashChat, good conversation about roleplay, etc... and for some reason 18 people on forums, 9 guests, and 7 members. An example of things that came from FlashChat, me and Shira <ABC> talking and deciding that there needed to be more confrontation between families <if appropriate and done in the realm of roleplay>, not to mention a few solid ideas. But like I said, I can live without it, if there is viable secondary option. Direct communications vital to making forums fun and game concept thrive in my opinion. |
