Anything with Mifune is going to be worth it.

Samurai Trilogy - good stuff. (I thought the longsword was way cool)

My synopsis: Musashi kills someone, Otsu cries, repeat.

If your interested in seeing a true Japanese movie, see "Twilight Samurai", over the past few decades there has been a loss of true japanese cinema, with the likes of movies with extensive and excessive blood violence, however "Twilight Samurai" (2002) rivals the likes of Kurosara, the greatest japanese filmmaker of all time. Its a slow, moving movie, however dont watch it if you cannot stand sitting in front of a tv for more than 5 minutes without a body spraying blood like a texas oil leak. Beebe Out

Awesome! I never herd of this movie but will check it out. Good movies in any genre are hard to find today.

you know.. that's the kind of things i've been looking for, for a while now.

I'm going to get that samurai trilogy, and i want to watch that Seven Samurai and especially the one about Yojimbo. What would be your review of the movie Yojimbo? is it decently true to his myth?

i have watched seven samurai, yojimbo, and sanjuro. their story is great, the character build also very deep. but you must remember, seven samurai was made in 1954, yojimbo and sanjuro in 1960 and 1961. they are all in bw color. and the action scene is not as good as late samurai movies, like the last samurai or zatoichi.

but however, they are great movies :)

im a fan of akira akurosawa (the director of three movies mentioned)

if u like his movies, especially with samurai theme, im sure u want to watch "RAN" and KAGEMUSHA". they are made in 1980's and in color. :)

Kurosawa is definitely a big influence and a masterful director. I saw Yojimbo and Seven Samurai too. They're great movies in their own respective forms of film direction. I'm a novice fan of Kurosawa as well then no? :o

10 years ago i sat in front of my tv and caught a scene of a samurai traveling to an island, carving a sword out of wood...then duel another samurai

To be honest, this scene has stuck with me for some time...is it a scene from samurai 3?
