So, recently while talking of Tatsumaki, I was saying how much I just want it to at least play simple like Way of the Samurai and I'd be happy. Then it occured to be of one big thing-
It's been a year since I last spoke of way of the samurai and had my eye on hoping WotS 3 was coming to the US. Well, apparently, in October, it was released. So I decided to go buy it.... only to find it not in ANY store. So I was forced to order it, full price, despite it's low score and selling (that should not effect any buyers truthfully).
So, tomorrow or the next day, I should be getting my hands on a nice, new samurai action game, fresh in the box (anyone else sniff new game like it was a sharpie getting them high?)
While I'm waiting, I'm going to ask you guy's- Anyone ever play Way of the Samurai?
And for those that haven't, I'm going to explain it.
WotS is a series of games that play the same but get slightly better and offer more each time. They don't go way out of their way with better graphics and what not, or giving some super ultra mega update. They just give you a new game with new stuff the same way as the last one, just a bit more polished.
1 was fun, but somewhat closed. Just felt a little small, I loved it none the less. It's a pretty nice ps2 title.
2 was awesome, but still a slight bit closed ..... after I beat it 6 times (coughs). The next 38 times felt.... slightly... closed >.>
3 is apparently called somewhat of a closed game... probably because the reviewers don't know of the series itself. Even a random review I watched on youtube of a guy who basically just butched townfolk for fun called it a great game to check out (except for the action now people).
I think anyone who appareciates samurai would love these games. The whole thing of the series is it's a game made for you to beat over and over and over and over. You will beat the game over a dozen times if you ONLY 'like' it. Every time you'll be taking new paths, making new choices, choosing new enemies and allies, and collecting and improving swords and such. In 3, they allow you to obtain swords individually rather than having single and double sword sets, and this lets you choose your own two swords for dual wielding, and it also has spears added into it. These are the normal weapons mind you, they usually have clubs and axes of various characters added into it too. You can get the jutte clubs from the magistrate, ninja swords from ninja, ect ect. Over 100 weapons, many acting very differently from the rest. In the game, the combat is somewhat simple yet complex, mastering it is somewhat hard, but once you figure out the system to it, it's kinda easy. You just use attacks for combos and hitting them past their guard, blocking and not letting them break your sword, and timing a block to do a parry to give them a ton of damage with a follow up attack.
Way of the Samurai is awesome for any who have not played it.
But those that have, anyone got any fun memories of these games of awesome?
Btw, WotS 4 was confirmed before the release of 3, I bet they release it later this year or next year for sure!
