Ok, im am having a problem, and I am trying to run a System Restore to when my PC was working properly, it seems i messed around w/ the PC settings and I want them to be how they were, but I forgot how lol, So I ran a the system restore and it looks like its working until I log on and it says "No changes have been made to your computer" and below it "Your computer cannot be restored to this point, please select another point and try again"
But, so far I have selected numerous points and the same thing keeps popping up. Can anyone please, please help me with my problem?

1. In order for System Restore to function you need to have enough free disk space (I recommend atleast 1gig, but MS says 600mb)

2. Make sure you disable your background apps with MSCONFIG (Just temporarily)

3. Have you made any changes to the system files? (Boot.ini, Config.sys, NTLDR.dll) If so, the inconsistencies can cause System Restore to not complete as it does not change these files but uses them as referances.

4. Have you changed the system restore program in any way? (3rd party apps that allow you to easily delete programs fully will sometimes change System Restore to make it more "Effectient" but 3/10 times the changes corrupt needed files for system restore... that includes your Restore Points)

5. Did you update to SP2 from SP1 without a clean format/reinstall? This was a common problem with Sys. Rstr. as it made changes to the program... some of files needed to read the new format of the restore points was not added into the program without a clean installation.

6. This is the least common (Unless you've had a virus or trojan recently) but the restore points might be damaged.

All in all, there is little you can do... back up your files and consider your options. (If you updated to SP2 from SP1 or Retail, might as well just download the distribution package of SP2 from Download.com and format/reinstall your system.)

Sorry I couldn't be much more help, but all in all from my experiance it's pretty much a waste of time to even try to "fix" this problem... because even if you do I'd guess you'll have a 70% chance of your system corrupting anyway.

If you want to restore your system, and you have Windows XP or another pc with an OS that allows the System Restore command, use that.

Basically, go to th econtrol panel, or something and find the System Restore thingy. And itll lead you where to go from there. sorry, dont use it much myself. :D
