Yagyu shall review movies here, samurai based mostly.

Todays movie, Ninja Assassin

I felt it was heavy on gory but light on story.

While i did very much enjoy the movie, it had some plot holes.

Such as Ninja running out into traffic breaking their cardinal rule of secrecy to fight the Suppa ninja boy Raizo.

Then there was the whole how did a buncha army jeeps get to a ninja compound in japan on the side of a mountain that was almost a perfect 90 degree angle with no roads.

oh and the annoying hot chick whos sposed to be a forensic investigator for earopol and has no real combat training and is screaming thru the whole movie suddenly at the end has a gun and is taking out ninja left and right lol

Then of course when the annoying hot girl uses the suppa boy Raizo as bait for the ozuno ninja and in one scene her hair is kinda straight and a lil wavy the way it was thru the whole begining of the movie, next scene her hair is super curly lol

Also there was alot of things that werent realistic.

but there was alot of cool things too.

Like the black sands clan, the ozuno ninja, far as i can tell in my research didnt exist. IF u want i can give u names of all the known ninja clans that DID exist lol.

First it was co written by j Micheal strazinscy who if u dont know em, is a comic book writer who has worked on amazing spiderman among other titles.

It had awesome references to Miyamoto Musashis book of 5 rings and recreated the cover of ;ne of the books yagyu munenori wrote, via the final fight scene between raizo and his master ozuno behind the paper screen doors. Alot of the ninja training/abuse was pretty close to what these ninja actually endured.

The special effects were awesome as was the martial arts.

In the very beginging they edit the ninja chant but later they say it all the way through.

Of course the chant couldnt really heal a fresh wound lol the real ninja had special remedy's for such things.

So i would give the movie 4 out of 5 stars

i dont think it is the greatest ninja movie ever story wise

but action wise it comes pretty close.

Id recommend it, it was alot of fun. If u can put up with the annoying pointless hot chick.

what did u think?

UPDATE:
Ok in my research apprently there was a ninja style they traced and used for the ozuno that was pretty accurate.

the name Ozunu, there was a real Ozunu, who was born in the Kinki District and is the ancestor of the Shugenja, mountain warriors who practiced Shugendo. He's an ancestor of the ninjutsu. So the research was so good.

So while there wasnt a Ozuno ninja Clan there was a ancestor of ninja who is named ozuno that they based the clan off from. If he was descendant from ninja of the kinki area then he would be descendant from one of the Iga Clans. Though if they were Shugenja its very possible they were Koga ninja as they were more common Yamabushi and shugenja.

So anyway the research on the movie was well done.

I saw it the day it came out, out of pure boredom.

I dont think it was really meant to be big on story, action was pretty good tho.

Also, one could assume there was SOME sort of road up to that area, i mean i dont think the creators would leave such a giant plot hole like that in there.

The girl was so-so, and i think the reason why she was so gung-ho at the end was because the ninjas were doused in light so she knew exactly where they were

What I DIDN'T like was how Raizo or w.e turned super sayan at the end when she got stabbed. The master was a BEAST, shouldn't have died like that.

I'd think this: Ninja Assassin (http://www.eoeforums.com/showthread.php?t=5225)

Movie: Ichi

As a die hard zatoichi fan with nearly every movie and episode on dvd i gotta say. I coudlnt wait to get my hands on this. While i enjoyed the latest remake of Zatoichi with takeshi kitano even though it wasnt MY zatoichi. No one can ever replace or come close to the legend set by Katsu Shintaro. The man was an amazing actor and comedian and one of the greatest swordsmen of our time.

So anyway Ichi which just came out a few months ago, was made as a sequel to the original movies.

BEWARE SPOILERS.
(( Set after the last zatoichi movie, ichi is a girl who is blind and seeking the man who she believes is her father. That being zatoichi himself. She has a cane sword, she fights using the same style. Shes pretty darn hot. But she didnt kick nearly as much butt as the original did. She meets some samurai dude who has a phobia about drawing his sword cuz he cut his mother and made her blind when he was a kid. Yea i know lame back story.

The movie kinda drags on and teases you with scenes that should be kick@$$ sword play but turns out to be disappointing. Seeing another actor trying to imitate katsu shintaro as zatoichi in a flashback was somewhat cool, but i woulda preferred they never showed his face. that way it woulda felt more like it really was ichi and not some cheesy actor doing a katsu shintaro imitation.

The bad guy in this was lame as heck. And the fact he could kick our girls butt made em even lamer. The ending was sad to say predictable.))

END OF SPOILERS

So i would rate this 1 outta 3 stars.

Fun if you loved zatoichi and want some samurai stuff to kill time with. But i wouldnt say they should make anymore continuing this chicks adventures.

Two movies that I wanted to buy... Yagyu, like my dreams of "everlastin' romance," you have crushed my hopes that either of those movies would be any good at all.

Thank you for saving me money and time!

Yagyu reviews Predators

Gotta say i loved this movie. Not a disappointment at all. Hanzo was awesome, total butt kicking Yakuza. The movie had the feel of the first movie. The characters mostly all pretty cool. They kill laurence fishbourn (Im not a huge fan of his).

I dont think thats too much a spoiler since in a predator movie everyone but 1 or 2 people always die anyway lol.

I am a huge AVP fan, ever since i saw the first alien movie and the first predator movie. They leave the movie open for a sweet sequel so lets hope for that.

So id give it a 10 and say you all should go see it.

Oh and shino i didnt say those movies were crap, i just said that there was stuff in them they coulda done better. lol.

Id still suggest seeing them.

I also recommend seeing Predators.

I can come up with a couple little holes that really shouldn't have made it into the final cut, but that's all fine, taken in stride.

All in all I walked out perfectly satisfied with the horrendous price movie tickets have nowadays that I paid.

They did most of the things correctly. They didn't make us sit through backstory on the characters, which would have ruined it. Instead they just plop you down in the middle with the characters with no idea what's going on (except we know because of trailers and the like), and say: "have fun, audience." And I did. It was fun.
