For a while now, all i have wanted to do when i finish school is become a game designer or environment/character modeller. Finally, after a while searching for places to study, i found this:
http://www.qantm.com/
And im pretty sure its one of the only ones in Australia...
I cant wait till i finish school, and now im currently studying my maths and basic coding. I hope i can get into there when i finish school...

LOL! anyway, Biotechnology? I have never heard of that... (its good to be a kid) Anyway, i think Australia is building more universities and stuff. That way we wont have to go to the states to get our degrees.
I also want to move to the Philipenes after i graduate college. My friends cousins live there <3 Also, the money exchange thing is heaps so i will have a lot of cash there.

I am actually going to be attending Full Sail this fall. Suppose to be a great school, one of the best for game design.

yeah, ive wanted to be a game designer for several years now, i think... i used to wanna be a chef, cause i used to cook like every day. i could make cakes and stuff before i was 8, and now i make other things like pasta, butso soup (indonesian dish) and stuff like that. i especially like italian food.
back to the topic...
i was thinking of moving to the phillipenes after i finish school or uni. Lots of major games start out there so i figured it would be a good place to start.

Phillipines and Indo-China has tons of free games with monthly fees. Most are cookie-cutter 2 demensional Super Ninento type games with Zelda feel. Some a little better. I played a few Korean games with same deal.

I looked at full sail and some of those other Game Design schools, they may sound good in theory, but with my understanding not all that many developers have faith in what is taught their. Even though I as well have considered going into Game Design, and have been working on my own design projects, I am not going to specialize in something that may potentially hinder me.
It's just as easy to get a degree in Computer Science, Animation, Sound, etc, that can be used in other fields. I am a firm believer in leaving your options open, but I would defintly look into the employability after you are done.
As for the creator of the topic, your government and the school itself should keep several usefull statistics. Most schools track where their students go after graduation, if they are looking for jobs, have jobs etc. In Canada anyway, The government also holds statistics like key performance indicators, and ranks the colleges and universites, track drop out rates, and such.
Additionally, you can talk to the school, and get to know exactly what you will be able to do when you complete the course, and also make sure it's what you want to do.
I myself am currently in college. I just entered my third semester for a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Computer Information Systems. With this I can work as a Systems Designer, Project Manager, Web Designer, Programmer, Networking Engineer. Additionally I have previous experience in PLC's, and once I have my degree would also like to learn indepth programming of these devices. Meaning that I can work in any number of fields of my choosing.
Also, if you really really want to do Game Design, I'd say start with your own self learning, I've read two Game Design books (working on my third which is character developement). Additionally I ama subscriber of GameDev.Net and Gamasutra.com. Both these sites have good articles about games and game design. They may help you form a better understanding of what a Game Designer is and does, because it isn't a simple easy job.
I hope this information allows you to make a good well informed choice.

yeah, i know. Also, i mainly want to look into programming C++. Not only are lots of games based on this programming, but many other jobs in computers and technology require the understanding of this language.
I have also thought about modelling... but you never know. (Modelling as in game environment)

Yep, a programming background with C++ and diversifying with other languages would be best bet. I took some programming in college, it's mostly trial and error and simple problemsolving. On the hiring (http://www.tatsumaki-online.com/index.php?u=team) page for Eyesout, you can find some of the libraries they will use, based on C++. I downloaded some of the libraries but haven't had a chance to play with them yet. Gamedev.net is great to get a feel for some of the stuff. I think the grahics engine they switched to is on there, Ogre? Know nothing about that one at all. Anyone speculating that Eyesout will just bail on concept for game has no idea how much time, money and effort has already gone into this game just to get it to where it is. I found this download (http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_cbuilder.html), says is free, not sure, haven't downloaded. Much newer version than the one I have on CD, that one is prolly 7-8 years old. Borland's V 3.1. I can send V 3.1 to you if you want, via email, just message me. It's prolly a relic in programming by now but it works on the same principals of programming and scripting. Finally, Neverwinter Nights is a good game to play around with for NPC creation and environmental aspects. Not really making a game from scratch, but can create modules, which is fun. I am not expert on the subject but have done some programming with C++.

yeh, i am currently reading he basics on BloodshedC+++ its really good and easy to understand, and has all the basics of programming that is easy to understand. By the time i finish school i hope to have gotten a good grasp of C++ to give me a beter chance at getting into the college. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yes, specialization can be a bad thing, but at full sail, they do have a class for developing windows based programs, so you will be capable of developing other programs.
As far recognition, Full Sail has 90% placement after graduation. I also know Bungie fully supports that school, since my friend know this kid that didn't like Halo and therefore, remade it and they sent him to Full Sail.
