Sony also confirmed the PlayStation 3, will use Blu-Ray discs as its media format. The discs can hold up to six times as much data as current-generation DVDs. It also confirmed the machine would be backward-compatible all the way to the original PlayStation. It will also have slots for Memory Stick Duo, a SD slot, and a compact flash memory slot. Out of the box, the PS3 will have the capability to support seven Bluetooth controllers. It will also have six USB slots for peripherals--four up front and two in the back. Sony also unveiled the PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision, 1080p resolution, some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512mb of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has over 300 million transistors, larger than any processor available commercially today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process with 8 layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1000 total if bought today.

Ahh, do you mean like how Sony did the Hand-held style of the PS2? If so, in the furure, they will alwayz make multiple varitions of the console, it makes poeple wanna have the newer version rather than the old, no one wants old :) The PS1 is a perfect exmaple.

What I meant was, I read on the Xbox forums a while back that the new Xbox was going to come in three different packages. One for games, one for media, and one sort of like a PC. I think they were going to be named Xbox 360, Xbox 2, and Xenon (Xeon?). Maybe it was just a rumor. <_<

Ahh, I know nothing of that to my knowledge, Never heard of Xenon or that Xbox 2, only seen Xbox 360 on T.V. and reading some reviews and interviews on the makers.

Lol, just found this while looking on some console websites, looks like they got a another new console, Nintendo Revolution, hehehe, never knew anything of it until now. It can play dvd's, gamecube games, old nintendo games, and connect wirelessly to other Revolutions. Heres a pic of it I found also:

Yah, if you wanted to real action you'd buy the Xbox 360 or PS3 over the Nintendo, you guys should check the IGN site and they got some demo videos of some PS3 and Xbox 360 games, I was like WOAHH! The graphics are incredibly superb, they are that of the Final Fantasy movies, I mean, mannn, they are just too amazing! :D

Well...
The X-Box is coming out with top of the line rpg's, like Jade Empire, for example.
But the Sony's platforms will always outnumber the X-box's games 2:1. I will probably end up with the PS3, just as long as there are good online rpg's. But i feel sorry for the guys at nintendo... they just dont realise that the generation that onced bought their mario and zelda games have grown up into computer online shoting games like Americas Army, or MMORPG's, like Asherons call or World of Warcraft...

Im a true PS fan. Im going for the PS3, but.....seriously, you've got to be kidding me right? Its going to look like that? Anyways. PS always had a force that drew in games that had an anime feature. And great games with revolutionary features. Metal Gear Solid - uber storyline, and graphics, first of its kind to really depend on stealth. Final Fantasy/s - Uber Storyline, great graphics. Great character designs, and first of its kind to get multiple awards for its FF10 graphics. <--GO PlayStation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Sony is saying that the PS3 is double as powerful as the Xbox 360, however just remember its Sony saying it, not an independent evaluater. Its interesting, Microsoft hasn't unlike last time gone out to make a super powerful console compare to Sony, but instead inforced the Xbox Live element and the importance of being part of that network. I would have to say im an Xbox fan and that the way i will go. Initially even if the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 there will be little difference, but as time progresses, the 360 will begin to show its age, just as the current console battle is looking, with the PS2 showing its age much more than the Xbox.
On the issue of the title of the Xbox, it is going to be called the 360. Xenon and Xbox two were just code or rumour name for it. Only one type will be avilable. Hope this helps. Beebe out.

First off all, it's bs that Nintendo makes kiddy games. The graphics engine they use just use more bright colours.
But the Cube also has something called "Xbox Whopass graphics". I present to you the new Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princes. Feast your eyes on this!
http://www.jolt.co.uk/index.php?articleid=3928
Not trying to show off in Nintendo's favor but Xbox is said to have a way better graphics engine (I have all 3 consoles and I agree), wich is bigger and also the main reason as to the noise it makes. But this whops almost all xbox games graphics whise. So basicly the tiny, 4 times smaller Cube can deliver the same if not better than the oversized xbox.
Also I'm thinking of getting the new Nintendo system. First the new Jolt.co.uk preview about it's specs...The Nintendo Revolution!
"The Revolution is coming. No, the government’s not about to overthrown (which is a bit of a shame, to be honest), but Nintendo’s successor to the small but gutsy GameCube has been unveiled at a conference prior to the E3 show in Los Angeles. Although some key details were held back, we learned enough to get us pretty excited about Nintendo’s next crack at console supremacy.
The name itself is suitably grandiose, suggesting a true next generation machine – it’s certainly a better effort than Sony’s unimaginatively-monikered PS3 and the stupidly-named Xbox 360 (what were they thinking?). But names will ultimately count for little in the next generation console race.
Let’s begin with the looks of the machine. The prototype unit wielded by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was a sleek, rectangular slab the thickness of three DVD cases, but slightly longer. It was tantalisingly suggested that the final release machine will be even smaller. The Revolution will initially only be available in black, but will be joined by a range of other colours after release.
The machine, rather like the PS2, has its own base on which it stands vertically, slightly tilted upwards (which actually makes a lot of sense, considering most people keep their consoles on their bedroom floors). It can also be operated horizontally.
Okay, enough with the foreplay – let’s get technical. The machine will contain an internal 512MB flash memory unit to store your saved games and downloads (more about those later) on, but there will also be slots for SD flash memory cards. It’s a relief to at last see generic storage cards being embraced by the consoles, rather than proprietary memory cards for every different machine. A couple of USB 2.0 ports will also feature.
Nintendo have decided to move back to the DVD format, so the machine will be capable of reading standard double-density DVDs. However, backwards compatibility is promised, so the machine’s drive will also happily accept your back catalogue of GameCube titles. The machine will also be able to play DVD films, albeit not straight out of the box. Apparently, an “internal attachment” will be required.
The heart of the machine will be powered by an IBM “Broadway” processor, supported by an ATI “ Hollywood” graphical processing unit. Nintendo have claimed that this will make the Revolution around three times more powerful than the Cube. This has been met with much consternation amongst the gaming press, largely as Microsoft and Sony have both claimed their machines will be loads faster (that’s a bona fide technical term right there) than their current systems. We have to keep in mind a couple of things, though. Firstly, Microsoft and Sony have never been known to be conservative when making such claims, as anyone who remembers the very early PS2 and Xbox screenshots that were basically photoshopped images will know. Secondly, the architecture of consoles is totally different to that of PCs – technically, the GameCube compares unfavourably to the Xbox, yet the graphics of many titles have put Microsoft’s behemoth to shame.
What’s going to separate the Revolution from the other two consoles doesn’t lie in its technical specifications, nor how many polygons it can push. It lies, in our humble opinion, in two things. Firstly, Nintendo have set up a deal with Broadcom to provide wi-fi functionality straight out of the box. By itself, this is nothing remarkable (in fact, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be equipped with wireless capabilities), but Nintendo have announced plans to set up an online gaming service that will surpass Xbox Live and – the best bit – will be absolutely free. Here’s the real head-turner though – Nintendo will be offering their entire back catalogue of NES, SNES, N64 and even GameCube games for download (for a fee) into the machine’s storage memory.
Provided the price is right, this could prove a masterstroke. Fancy playing GoldenEye again? How about Perfect Dark? Just as long as Nintendo don’t do anything silly like overpricing these downloads, Nintendo’s legion of fans will be queuing up for the retro action.
The second thing that should set the Revolution apart is, ironically, the very thing that wasn’t revealed at the conference – its control pad. Nintendo have been dropping hints for months that this is where the “revolution” in gaming will lie, but has yet to tell us why. They certainly don’t have much competition in that department – the Xbox 360’s pad is an almost exact copy of the original Xbox’s pad, while the boomerang set to ship with the PS3 looks like an utter nightmare to hold.
The only details regarding Nintendo’s pad have been pure rumour, and we’re not ones to pay heed to such things. But in this case we’ll make an exception. The word is that the control pad will be wireless (which is pretty obvious, really), and will contain some form of gyroscope for controlling games through tilting. There is also rumoured to be some form of grip-sensitive element to the pad which will monitor how firmly you’re grasping it, plus we’ve heard that it’ll be accompanied by a wireless headset, and some of the most advanced voice recognition ever seen. Add to this the whispers of an entirely new force-feedback system (which would spell an end to rumble effects that are so insipid, we barely notice them in the majority of games we play these days), and it all adds up to, well, a wealth of wholly unsubstantiated rumours. However, if even a fraction of those rumours turn out to be accurate, Nintendo may actually turn out to have the only truly original card in the next generation console deck. There is an ‘if’ though.
http://assets.jolt.co.uk/picdump/_mainsite/articles/050519/nr/01_s.jpg
One concern we’ve had about the Revolution is that Nintendo might have trouble garnering third party support, due to the virtual abandonment of the GameCube by pretty much everyone. This happily appears to be a fear that’s unfounded though, as major players such as EA, Sega, Capcom and Namco are all working on projects for the console’s launch, not to mention Square-Enix beavering away on a Final Fantasy instalment. Nintendo, of course, have an unrivalled line-up of first party franchises on their way, including the likes of Pokemon and Zelda. Some of the launch games will be compatible with Nintendo’s new online network too, including a new Tony Hawk instalment and Smash Bros. As fans of the Cube’s Super Smash Bros. Melee, which we still maintain is one of the little box’s finest games, the thought of a next generation online conversion is making us moist with anticipation.
With all the attention being aimed at Sony and Micro$oft, Nintendo have succeeded in surprising those who were already dismissing the Revolution as an also ran. While there were noticeable absences in Nintendo’s presentation – like the fact that it was never actually plugged in and switched on, and the fact that the supposedly all-singing all-dancing controller was nowhere to be seen – the announcement of Revolution’s free online services, and the fact that the access to Nintendo’s huge back catalogue will, in a manner of speaking, effectively turn it into an amalgamation of the most popular of Nintendo’s consoles, suggest that Nintendo’s little slab will be a key player over the next year. It’s just a shame we’ll have to wait until its release in 2006 before we can find out for certain."
My reasons:
It's practicly the same old console with some upgrades (just as Microsoft's new release aswell as Sony's). But this thing has a twist.
Actual originality:
The second thing that should set the Revolution apart is, ironically, the very thing that wasn’t revealed at the conference – its control pad. Nintendo have been dropping hints for months that this is where the “revolution” in gaming will lie, but has yet to tell us why. They certainly don’t have much competition in that department – the Xbox 360’s pad is an almost exact copy of the original Xbox’s pad, while the boomerang set to ship with the PS3 looks like an utter nightmare to hold. These are rumour since they haven't been seen yet but it sounds promising to me.
The only details regarding Nintendo’s pad have been pure rumour, and I'm not one to pay heed to such things. But in this case I’ll make an exception. The word is that the control pad will be wireless (which is pretty obvious, really), and will contain some form of gyroscope for controlling games through tilting. However, if even a fraction of those rumours turn out to be accurate, Nintendo may actually turn out to have the only truly original card in the next generation console deck.
- Online Gameplay:
Ok, so you could say Nintendo stole this from Microsoft's Xbox Live. I'd rather say they observed it. Xbox has a monopoly at the moment on online console gaming, with Nintendo not using it yet and Sony's online program sucking hard..No offense it just sucked. So they're releasing something that's equilevant or even beter than Xbox Live.
Now the part that makes me wanna hug all my Nintendo stuff..it has no fees! So you buy the modem just like on the xbox, plug it in, start playing online. No bs about waiting a month for credit card validations and payment itself.
Also Nintendo is putting up it's huge back catelog. That means every game from the first sytem up to the gamecube will be up for download! I mean wooyeah, baby! Also they're putting online modes in their biggest cube and n64 multiplayer games. That means Perfect Dark, Goldeneye online!
- Replay and DVD:
Nintendo have decided to move back to the DVD format, so the machine will be capable of reading standard double-density DVDs. However, backwards compatibility is promised, so the machine’s drive will also happily accept your back catalogue of GameCube titles! The machine will also be able to play DVD films, albeit not straight out of the box. Apparently, an “internal attachment” will be required.
So watching your dvd's will be possible on the new Nintendo Revolution and also you don't have to sell your old Cube titles!
What I'm gonna buy? Don't know yet. If these things Nintendo says are actually becoming reality then I know what I'm getting, no doubt.
First off all I'm not buying anything the first 3 months due to price drops! The PS2 dropped 400$ dollar in price after 3 months! Also I want to see how the launch is going for every console. Offcourse also the release games count allot and the overal suply of monthly gaming material afterwards. Also I wanna see how the battle goes between all the consoles.
Basicly I'll probably buy the low priced one before all others unless one really jumps out on top for me. Untill they are all released, I'm just observing ;)

Well all the next generation consoles sound quite interesting. Even though i'm not a console gamer myself. The closest I got was my sister's SNES. I myself still tend to prefer computer games, because in my opinion they still have far better multiplayer capabilities, albeit some of you xbox gamers would argue that. Additionally, computer games I find seem to have somewhat more originality in an industry that despises being different.
The closest I got to owning one of these console's was most likely the xbox, but never bought it out of spite for microsoft. I myself though would make purchasing decisions based on the games each of the consoles has for them, and not the actual console itself. Even the one of these systems that puts out the least frames, and processes a few hertz slower, can have far better gameplay and story available to them.
But this is just me, I'm sure many of you just love sitting down infront of a console and palying games. And I hope each of you find the gaming experience your looking for within these consoles.

Yep, thats no lie, Revolution will be less than the others, but it probaly wont be as high in the ranks as the PS3 or Xbox 360, you can just tell by looking at the reviews, and that Zelda game they got going aint no joke, but you should check out the Kill Zone movie for PS3 or the Halo 3 movie for the Xbox 360, it is truly remarkable.

Yah, that would be a smart choice for wise gamers, partly because both complanies do tend to modify their pics of games, guess you just gotta wait to buy the consoles to see what they are really like. Like I said, PS3 all the way!

Same thing goes for MMO's. Notice that whenever you try to look for a real screenshot of gameplay. Rarely, you'll find one, the people mostly their modifies them, or makes it look like a scenary shot.

Majority of Game Genre's and ESRB Ratings per Current Console Manufacturer:
Sony - Action/RPG - 14+
Microsoft - Action - 17+
Nintendo - Adventure - E+
That was based off a census I made about 9 months ago, it may not be correct now but from what I could tell, Sony held mainly Action and RPG games for their console which contained a rateing above 14+ and some 17+ games.
Microsoft has mostly Action/Shooter games with violence of 17+ and even Mature ratings.
Nintendo has mostly Party Games (Mario Kart, Mario Party) and Adventure games (Sonic) with E+ ratings.
While all the firms hold titles from all genres and ESRB ratings, those are the majority. Very few hold good Strategy or Simulations, as Action/Adventure/RPG games are tried and true on consoles. PCs have, until now, held tightly onto Strategy/Simulation/Other genres due to the complexity you can make the controls (a mouse and keyboard being superior in options compared to contollers in some PC gamers opinions for Strategy/Sim games and some Aciton/Shooters)
I am torn between PS3 and X360... I will wait a few years after their release for the bugs to work out, upgrades to be made, and games to be released before I really choose. I wll not be buying a Nintendo console, however my fiancee more than likely will... she loves Mario too much.

What a long thread...
I don't think I'm going to buy any of the three systems until the prices are roughly $100 a peice, because I already have enough console games on my wishlist. I haven't even beat Tenchu 2 on PSX yet and already I want to go out and buy Einhander. I buy NES games on a regular basis. Last year I bought Shining Force II for Sega Genesis. Actually, last year I also purchased a set of six Tiger™ electronics games that were distributed in McDonalds Happy Meals, just because I liked the gameplay of them. Graphics are nice. I mean, remember the Myst series? To this day they are some of the prettiest landscapes I have ever seen, but for many the gameplay left something to be desired. I couldn't care less about what systems are out there, I just want to know if the games are good.
My question about the specs is why aren't any of the three console giants going whole-hog and putting in a gig of ram? I mean c'mon, high-end PC gamers have a gig of ram.

DREAMCAST ALL THE WAY! I'm sorry...but I loved everything about that system. But as for the new systems coming out...wow, that's some crazy stuff. o_o I personaly liked the old ps rpgs such as Lunar/2. Working working designs, in my humble opinion is one of the best game making teams ever. Only problem is...there stuff is hard to come by, and when you do end up finding there stuff. It's almost 2x the amount you would normaly pay for a game. :( But it's well worth it. :D <Go anime rpgs> XD

Wow, your gonna' be waiting for quite a long time then, the PS2 and Xbox prices ahvent even droped to 100$ hehe, coming close to it but not yet, or alteast until they release teh new consoles. But, seeing as you still love the old-skool consoles and games, I think a couple of years of waiting won't matter much to ya. :)

OMG, i just witnessed the new generations of gaming graphics....... The PS3 is AWESOME!!!!! and maybe the Xbox too. BUT WOW!!! i was looking at a Killzone 2 demo, and i thought it was a CG intro, the quality was like 2 times better than FF10s CG animations(no offense). But then, suddently, the dudes you play begin to get into a battle, and wow, it was a gameplay vid of the first mission..(i think). But the graphics none the less, are ultimate.
And expect MANY great things to return...for those MGS freaks like me. GO METAL GEAR SOLID 4!!!!!!! heres the link to my favorite info site. www.gamespot.com

Both seem to be very good console but frankly the only thing I care about is the games nowadays. It sucks if you buy a console for only 2-3 good games.
So I won't buy any if I don't find a lot games that makes them worth buying.
I prefer my good old computer anyway. No need to take turns with greedy step brothers, no need to buy new controllers that always break...
and beside, what good is having a computer if it's for everything but playing games ?

Being the gamer that i am, and i am a gamer, i will be getting all 3, the ps3, xbox360, and the revolution.
For Nintendo and the Revolution; Just because games are childish doesn't make them bad games and can actually make them just as good if not better than any other games. Nintendo's games gameplay-wise are also far superior to any other game made by any other company. Don't believe? Compare Metroid Prime to Halo. MP is better at making an atmosphere of being samus and better gamewise than Halo, Halo just had the multiplayer support.
Xbox360; This is my console of choice for the new generation, since i am an xbox fanboy. Games like Condemned are going to make this console. Let's not also forget Blue Dragon, the new game by the makers of Chrono Trigger (remember Chrono Trigger, right?), is also exclusive to xbox360. Rare also has a lineup of their games for xbox 360, including the new Perfect Dark. As for you final fantasy lovers, square enix might be moving over to xbox. It has already been announced that ffxi is going to be released for it. Hideo Kojima of metal gear solid fame was a huge supporter of the xbox so i would hope he would also provide good support for the xbox360.
PS3; This is the powerhouse of the new consoles. With great power though, comes great expenses and the ps3 contrary to any belief, will not be cheap and i would assume you would be able to buy an hd tv, a game and xbox360 and maybe cover the price for the ps3 since the technology inside of it is incredibly expensive. Hd-players right now go about 1000 bucks, so what will that show about the ps3's price when it comes out? Hd-discs are also going to cause a huge problem. There are currently two technologies for hd-tech, blue ray which the ps3 will use and one being developed by toshiba. Sony's hd-tech is also a lot better than toshibas and holds more space. The problem is that the movie industry is divided half and half with both technologies, much like the beta and vhs war in the 80's. That means, that unless sony and toshiba compromise together, you might not be able to watch your favorite movie on an hd-disc on the ps3. The ps3 also does have great game support, which is also very important in determining a console, but power means nothing.
Games determine the console. As for the 1gb of ram for a console is completely different than 1gb of ram for a computer. Since consoles don't rely on an operating system and a ton of other, unneeded programs and untilities, 1gb is a ton of power for console that solely runs one single game. Processing power on consoles is better for this reason which is why xbox games look better than games on my computer even though i have a pretty powerful computer (pent4 at 3.0ghz, 1gb ram, ati radeon 9800 pro).
I'm going to buy all three consoles just like i bought a psp and a ds. Damn, times like this i hate being a gamer.

I also forget, xbox360 this fall, ps3 this time next year, and revolution at the end of 2006. Xbox360 is going to pull a lot of sales because its being released earlier and has been doing some great publicity (the mtv event). Xbox360 is also supposely going to realease halo3 at the release time of ps3 to counter its sales.
Nintendo is taking its time to making its console, so its not going to be a huge beta test like the xbox and ps3 when they come out.

Ahh, but rumors are saying Halo 3 will be rivaled by Kill Zone, Since it is more realistic I'll be going for that, I always liked Socom II better than Halo, I dont know, just always did.

I played Socom 1 and was completely turned off by the game. The game brought new definitions of glitches and bugs to me. It was so pathetic. I shot a guy 3 times in the chest and he fell over dead. He then stood up and rifle butted, which for some reason is an instakill, and fell back over dead. Pathetic. BTW, if you watch the Socom video about the SEALs, my brother is in it. He not an important character but he went to BUDs with all those guys.
they are both sexy lookin machines, but I think I will get XBox 360 first.~

OMG! I just read this and I want all three. NO! I'm going to get all three! If I don't like them, which can happen, I guess I'll give them to someone who wants it. Like I did with the X-box I got for my birthday. Doesn't anyone notice that I already have an X-box. Look before you give me anything. My family spoils me with all kinds of game or games consoles every year, almost sick of it. I'll be on the corner of Blackstone and First holding up some sign. Hope I don't get arrested.
I hope my brother doesn't know about these. If he does, he better get his own. We siblings do not share. If we do, I might end up stabbing his hand like I did when we got our first PS2 or when he tried to strangle me with the gamecube coontroller cord when we had only one gamecube remote. My mom had to go out and buy another one. Thats why mother made sure we get our own before we attempt to kill each other.

Well this is a tough choice for me as I'm mildly partial to each company. My history of game is like such.
I was raised in the good ol' late 80's early 90's era, where TV more so than video games, raised the youth of coperate america. I was one of the thousands of families who had access to the lastest digital drug the god like NES. I would spend hours on that thing, either poppin ducks (or that damn laughing dog!!!!) or venturing the world of Hyrule, generaly carefree.
My horizons expanded when to my joy my father brought home the next bit of history for my birthday, the Super NES. Not only was I allowed more great experiences, some of which expanded off of the NES, but I was allowed these great experiences with double the graphical glee of their predecessors! If I had been asked what Nirvana would be like (had I known its meaning at the time) I would have answered that it would be exactly like the Super NES. The SNES brought me my first looks at the world of racing dangerously, a world of fantasy that doesn't have to end unless you want it to, how to arm one's self in case of an unforseen trip through time (so long as a friend could come), how to partake in ritual of fighting (thus learning my first combos), how to stratagize the defeat of enemies who's attacks not only filled all that could be seen, but gave the impression that even those hundreds of times bigger could be taken down by either a single plane/spaceship or by a group of friends who's talents supported your actions in both offensive and defensive ways. I got my first taste of a 3D world in my control from the SNES, which ultimately sealed my fate (praise be to Star Fox).
But like all good things, the SNES couldn't last forever like its cartridge componets (at least more so than those damn disks!!!) and I once again turned to Nintendo to solve my problems. They were solved, and it was, not to my suprise, solved by Nintendo yet again. 64 bits was the key that unlocked my innocence and it was feed gasoline by both my crazy pre-teen years and the Nintendo's lack of wanting to feed my needs for distruction (without some sort of cutesy edge to it). But thats not to say that I didn't enjoy the N64, because it brought close to if not as many memories as the SNES. I remember mostly advancements of my skills with the N64 though instead of carefree happy memories with the SNES (but i wish to name a few). There was the advancement of my puzzle solving skills in realizing that fire holds the key to most puzzles and that pushing blocks = total waste of time that should be done away with, shooting things is fun unless done for hours strait then its not a game anymore its business except with the Klobb, gold people snowboard really well, monkeys can not only pilot airplanes but go-karts and hovercrafts too!, and fightings for fun unless its with an elf boy who can edge guard the pants off of sylvester stallone in cliff hanger.
I believe it is at this time that Nintendo became more nostalgia and less entertaining edge that it once was for me. It was also at this time that I found the computer to be less of a worthless sack of crap and a true jack of all suits. When not downloading from Napster to support my rebelious ways, I was IMing my internet "friends". Total waste of time but it brought me to playing a certain RPG that forever turned me into an RPG fan and brought a undieing love for swords and all things Square. By the end of the N64 I was ready for something that just screamed edgeyness so I began to throw myself to the video game world in anyway possible. I began playing MMO's and partook in some online anarchy and ever crack use, as well as playing the never dull shooter whos mods and sequels I still play. I found a game of Britannia and the world of web comics.
It was also at this time that I broke away from the ordinary of, let buy every Nintendo system, and purchased my first step towards a world of gaming that scarred my innocence beyond all belief AFTER igniting the gasoline of my angst. I'm refering to none other than the PS2. Now before you all go and jump down my throat, let me state, the PS2 is and always will be a great system in my mind, but if you blantenly disreguard the rather large amount of **** that has been put into production because of this system then you need to be shot. I quote one of the few loading screens i remember No tresspassers: Violators will be shot, survivers will be shot again (may have it wrong but thats the jist of it so work with me).
During my time spent with the good, the bad, and the ugly that was the PS2 I began to wonder what Microsoft could bring to the table if the PC could and would bring me such great times. So I invested in the Xbox, and was far from disapointent. The Xbox brought more of the edge to the table that the PS2 had set for me. I got blood and lots of it, and its safe to say that once you taste the blood of your opponents you want to make sure that you can taste it over and over again, much like some of the more serious drugs. I began to see ever answer as rush in after you throw the 'nade but only if your gun shoots fast. But like with drugs it began to require more and more so I went from enjoying a game for its game paly to spending time finding the most extreme rush on either system. I began to get bitter both because in terms of gaming and dealing with people in general, and MMO's took over.
Now, though I love the times spent with all of my past systems, when faced with the next line up of choices I'm unsure as to what to say. The Revolution promises all of the nostalgia that I could ever crave and my RPG love has started working once again with them. The PS3 supports more backwards compatibilty, more RPGs from my favorite company, and the best tech demo that made me cream my self only to end up getting kicked in the balls once told that it was all for show. Finally the 360 shows more online support than the other companies, more love to the RPG world, and more blood lust adventurers with guns and 'nades. But I have to weigh the bad that I heard about each. The Revolution will more likely follow suit with the other recent Nintendo excursions and deliver games which dont follow suit enough with the darker emotions that make many games (and movies) twisted fun. The PS3 is trying to use disks that have yet to gain popularity, thus making the games that are already very expensive potentialy go up further. Finally the 360 is basing everything off of online, which means that you can buy your games online. What I dislike about this system is the idea of buying extras and such which where free on Xbox Live because Microsoft isn't happy with how much they are already raping the pocket books of the youth.
So with all things considered, my choice for system is to go with the PS3 as the main console, and depending on the buying of extra features, the Revolution or the 360 but not all three unless they all tease me sooo much that it is impossible to enjoy console gaming with out them.
Anyway, I know I have rambled greatly this time, but I was bored :P
And that concludes the man of a thousand sporks two cents on these new gaming machines.

I will be going off to boot camp around the time the Xbox 360 is suppose to come out. So I will have around three months worth of pay saved up. Then Right after boot camp I go to job training which is alittle over two years. Also when I am in school, everything is free. So I will have more then enough money to blow on the systems. I plan on getting both.
Oh and that VR game thingy is an awesome idea. Hopefully by the time I am finally retired they will have them. So I will be able to spend all day playing, making one of those characters that everyone hears about. Just that damn powerful.

PS3 will be purchased beyond a shadow of a doubt, just because it seems to have the games i want. That, and well, i guess even subconsciously i've been a bit of a Sony "fanboy", much to my chagrin. Though, i will be buying an XBOX360 as well, but in all honesty, it's only for that awesome zombie game (Dead Rising) and Halo 3.
Revolutions? Well...i'll get it at some point.
