Im so happy because earlier today i upgraded my computer - woo!

Im still using the same case, and chose to reinstall the OS as well as everything else, and after hours of updating and configuring here i am to tell you the stats =].

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+
ASUS M2N-E SLI Motherboard
400gig Seagate Sata Harddisk with 16Mb Cache
Leadtek 8600 GTS w/ 256MB DDR3 RAM
2gigs of Matched Corsair 5-5-5-8 DDR2 RAM

I know its not a top-of-the-range setup, but i would say that it is upper mid-range, which is good enough for the next 12 months :)

How do you get/know that info I would like to find mine and post it so people can tell me what they think of mine. Sorry to ask you here.

Assuming you are running Windows XP, click Start and hover your mouse over "My Computer" (or on the desktop if that's where it is), right-click, and select "Properties".

In the "General" tab, you will find a section that lists some of the specs.

As for the brands, if you bought the PC retail then you'd really have to open it up to find out. Raku likely built his from individual parts, as he knows each individual brand.

Raku: Seems like you've got a good setup there! Just for comparison I'll go ahead and list my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
ASUS P4P800 SLI Motherboard
360GB SATA Harddrive
BFG nVidia 7950 GT w/ 256MB RAM
2GB DDR RAM

I got the cheaper graphics card just because, well, it was cheaper, and I can upgrade that easily!

Yeah i thought about getting a cheaper graphics card also, there was an overclocked XFX 7600GT for just under the price i got my 8600 for. But then i thought that i would rather pay the extra $100 and not have to pay for an upgrade later.

But yeah, this has put a deep hole in mine (and my parents) pockets :(.

kewl, Raku.
Every little bit helps. Sounds like it will be easier to upgrade in the future.

Yeah thats the main reason, because the computer i had before was really not that good, and i didn't want to go all-out knowing that at the current rate my hardware would have been 2nd grade, so i wanted to wait for major improvements (Like DDR3, except its crap).

Waiting for the Nvidia GeForce 9x and saving up for some 4-4-4-6 ram =] haha.

Floating Point Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floating_point)

I got a buddy who just installed two of the new GeForce what are they..8800's now? I don't know, it's the "newest best" nVidia card out. He's also installing water cooling. Why? I don't know. Looks cool though.

My system sucks really compared to yours...
Intel Pentium 4 3,0 GHz
2GB DDR2
Motherboard: don't know at the moment...
OS: Windows XP Proffessional
HD: One 40GB and one 100 GB... Swapping the 100GB for a 500GB soon, my sister may get the crappy HD cause I need more space and her HD is so old that it might crash soon. Muaha. :)
Oh and I'm getting a Gainward Bliss 4600 GTS with 512MB soon. The 8800 just eats up too much energy for me :( I can't really afford it too...

Awe, lol. I have been saving up for a while with my computer, like a very long time, been trying to save money for over a year to get this computer, i dont really pay any bills, so that helps to. O and i decided not to get the 8800gtx..i got a nvidea 8600 gt, it was $200, $400 cheeper then the 8800 -_- it was just to expensive, lol

CPU Clock Speed 1797.3 MHz

memory: 1gb of ram 200mhz
hdd: 500gb+

My computer isn't actually working yet, as I'm waiting for the last pieces of the puzzle to arrive.. But this is what the specs will be.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 2.4 ghz
Motherboard: ECS Elitegroup KA3MVP EXTREME
HDD: 160GB
Ram: Crucial 2GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 [Two of them, in Crossfire mode]

What sucks is that after I bought the graphics cards, the Radeon HD 3000 series came out... Ah well, its not too bad, as none of the 3000 series doesn't have the kicka** flames on it like a lot of the 2000 ones are.

Lol dont even count on it, I need to put all my money towards a car now, and the equiptment ill need for next year will cost a lot too. That, and i still havent spent any money for my formal next week, and thats gonna be around $300-$400 gone. I dont see my computer getting upgraded untill duel-quad core motherboards are the norm, Vista is in ruins, Microsoft launches Microsoft Omega or something and the WoW population starts to fade.

Yes, that long.
