Here’s the first footage released for the upcoming Final Fantasy game for the Wii that’s been dubed Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. It looks mighty fine for a Wii game and it’s always good to see someone other than Nintendo making a Wii game and the whole flying in the sky thing looks like it’ll be pretty fun. Overall, from this short clip, it looks like it’ll be a good adventure game in typical “the protagonist looks like a girl” Square Enix fashion. No word on a release date but I would think sometime next year is most likely.

Discuss =].

I never played the original Crystal Chronicles on the GameCube (mostly because I never owned one) but I certainly am a Final Fantasy fan, and have played I-XII, and beaten all but the real II, III, and XI (I watched IX get beaten...I couldn't get over that he had a tail, and never beat it myself. Also, one can't beat an mmorpg, so XI is out). I'm working on III on the Nintendo DS at the moment, and I have the remake of II on the PlayStation that I will get through eventually.

Chrystal Chronicles was the FF that could be multilayer, but each person needed a GameBoy, right? A bit odd, that concept, but if everybody had the equivalent hardware, I'm sure it would be fun. From what I've read about this next Wii installment, it's safe to say I'm looking forward to it. I like the graphics shown in the video. They remind me a bit of the SteamPunk Dark Cloud series.

I can't wait to play this game. Although, I have only owned 2 FF games, Final Fantasy III (DS), and Final Fantasy XII (PS2)... I've never really gotten into the Crystal Chronicles ones, but this one looks different.

Since it's on topic...

I own:
FF on NES and the PS remake
FFII on GBA and the PS remake
FFIII on Nintendo DS
FFIV the PS remake
FFV on GBA and the PS remake
FFVI on GBA
FFVII on PS
FFVIII on PS
FFX on PS2
FFXII on PS2

I have played but do not own:
FFIX on PS
FFX-2 on PS2
FFXI on computer
FFIV on SNES (as the American FFII, and beaten)
FFVI on SNES (as the American FFIII, and beaten)
FF: Tactics on PS
FF: Tactics Advance on GBA
FF: Dirge of Cerberus on the PS

I have not played any of the FFs for other systems, such as the cell phone offshoots or the Gamecube game(s).

I am greatly looking forward to:
FF: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
FF: Tactics Advance 2
FF: XIII
FF: XIII Versus

Am I missing any, because if I am, I would be very interested to look them up.

i own all final fantasy games in all formats (sadly i was a huge ff fan, and i guess i still buy them because they come out (only thing i sadly don't own is the cell phone games ffvii:bc (because i don't own a phone)

(that does include orginal falcom games in japanese etc, and stuff like chocobo raceing, etc)

that being said, this game might be the 1st final fantasy i won't buy,

why?

because other than ffxi, everything square-enix has put out since ffvii has disapointed me (ffviii-ffx being square games). and with noubou completely gone i see no hope in buying it anymore, however my sister does own a wii, so i guess when she moves back to the states i'll play it, (might even get a wii 5 years from now when nintendo has to put out a new console and wii prices fall)

that being said i will try xiii though i know it will suck, and i'll get the ffvii remake for ps3. sorry i guess i think with square's sexy graphics ps3 might actually kick butt

that being said...
vahn your missing,
the final fantasy packs for ps1
(if you own the v port you own the vi port)
your missing the vi port of ps1
your missing: mystic quest
1st and 2nd gb games
chocobo racing
that one game with the mini's can't think of it off hand...
ff:cc
ff:ix
ff:VII: pc
Ff:viii: pc
that's all i can think of right off the bat, i'd have to go to storage to see if there where anymore...

Aha! I'm also missing:
FF: Chocobo Tales for the Nintendo DS - I forgot that one just came out.

Also, have you played FFXII for PS2 at all Zorbon? It is a drastic change from the "classic" FF feel, but I actually found the game to be good fun. If you haven't checked it out, and you own a PS2, find a friend with a copy and give it a shot.

Most people I know have also been disappointed with the FF console games since FFVII. I would just like to point out, that while I know I am in the minority, FFVIII is one of my favorites (albeit in part due to the fact that the people look like actual "people"). I know the love story bit was a hard for some to swallow, but I found it enjoyable.

I had an uber samurai elf on FFXI, haha.

VII and VIII were great games, some of my favorites. X was good also, never played X-2, III was great as well. Really, the only one I never liked was IX because for some reason after VII and VIII they come out with a FF with a bunch of little kids, and the hero looks like a cheap knock-off of kid Goku. My only disappointment with XII was that the main character design is getting way too generic (ex. blue eyes, blonde hair... if you think about it, maybe FF is becoming pro Aryan superiority?)

I don't own chocobo tales yet

I have the collectors and regular copy of ffxii, it's crap imo, it's pretty much starwars minus insect and whatnot

ffvii would of made a good movie, as a game it was ok, personally I liked it better than 12

that being said, if i'm not mistaken the original devs of the game are gone, thus imo, se is just milking it, it'll never be the same

now suikoden on the other hand, is a game i have a new found passion for, Konomi(spelling?) has shown they can screw up the story (suikoden 3 , 4 and tactics, but still fix it, 5) much stronger story lines, much more flexibility, a crap load of endings, and made on a cheaper budget ^^;

back on subject, the wii game looks sorta cool, but square-enix has a knack for making crappy things (ffvii:ac) look cool

edit:

to mas,

oh yea i forgot about x-2, you're missing that too vahn, i actually liked the game, i found it about as entertaining as X...

xII main character was actually going to be a muscular swordsman, (like guts from berserk) but after demographics test after demographics test square made him into the emo-girly-man that he is. Sadly this is the big thing in japan, just look at the heavy metal bands in japan, they all look like... boy jorge ~,~; sexy japanese man = girlyman

Suikoden is a great series.

Have you ever tried Disgaea, or Disgaea 2? Those are two games that will take 400 hours of your life away from you (if you're into that style).

Isn't there also a FF game coming to PSP? I think its called Crisis Core: FF VII
*shrug* Could be wrong.

So while I could look it up, I'm lazy enough to wait for an answer from someone who knows: Being that this upcoming Wii Final Fantasy is a Crystal Chronicles game, will it include multiplayer co-op play, the way the first Cyrstal Chronicles did?

bit of a rant

I'm a fan of the ff's, but it has gone down hill from 9 onwards (7 being the best, 8 coming second) but they did loose the plot with x-2 and ff12 x-2 was way too easy and too short and not that good for there very first sequel and as for 12.....
OK no more random battle any more that's OK i don't mind, but the whole thing with the license board, i was not even half way thought the game and ever one had the boards maxed out, which leave no variety, call me old fashioned but i want classes warrior, thief, red mage, white mage blue mage black mage, not different ppl doing the same move with the same weapon as ever one else
then we move on to the espers well what can i say over than weak and point less early on and stupid point less later on, there damage and sell damage is most of the time lower than what you can do, there special moves, apart from a few are not with the 20+ or more seconds it takes to pull off just for a tiny bit more damage, which i could have done with the two characters they replaced.
then they were the gambits, some ppl may like it but i hated it, why should i have to program my allies to do stuff i swear half of the game i was moving the gambits up and down left and right, they could not have given some thing simple like,a gambits for heal mostly, attack mostly, spells, mostly, skills mostly that's it job done.
OK it looked nice, and there were lots of thing to do but in the end it left me wanting.

also i did like grandia's have to say more fun than most of the ff's, by the way does any one know if there is ever going to be a new parasite eve game? because they were good game as well

Wow, Parasite Eve...I haven't heard that game mentioned in a long time! It was also made into a movie in Japan, if my memory serves me correctly. (I'm not sure if it ever came to the states, but I'm pretty sure I watched it when I was studying in Ireland...the UK get all the good Japanese movie released that we miss out on :P ) ... As for a new one, I haven't heard anything - I'd play it though. They're bringing Resident Evil 4 and a new RE game to the Wii, as well as the new one for PS3...If they all sell well, some more games may come out for the genre, and perhaps one of the companies will remember PE fondly. one can hope.

from what it sounds like yuir, ff V or VI should be your favorite =P both of which has pretty tight nit classes, yet a bit of customablity. and awesome stories (imo ffvi has the best of everything, graphics, music, and story. i mean the techincal side of ffvi is AMAZING, it really pushed snes to the limit)

PE is awesome, though it's more of a game for ps3, where as i believe se should take wii game toward wii style.

also PE was a movie before it was game, just so you know.

i read the first line and **** yeah it is! my favorite RPG series!

i personally hate FF...hate it....square enix can rot in hell i hope they commit suicide and die when they realize they have yet to release a good game let alone a game where the main character had a recognizable gender

Senshi

Selmo, FF: XIII has a character with a recognizable gender. (Its pretty obvious that she is a woman due to the hair, lip gloss, mini skirt, and the breasts xD)
