well naruto 220 is over and this brings a end to his childhood adventuers, yet after 220 episodes what have we to show for it?....the answer one good fight between naruto and Sasuke, thats about it, and all the time he uses the same two moves
"wow its naruto he's come to save us,so what will he do?"
"arrrr...he will clone him self, get his ass kicked, then clone him self again and use Rasengan like he always does, over and over again"
so was the 220 episodes worth the 4.6 days it takes to have watched every one who knows? so now we get to skip two years of him doing training, so by now he should have atleast 1 new move hopefuly

i'm out of the norm, naruto bleach dragonballs i hate em dunno why, but i really really hate them....
that said, i've found most animes that go over 52eps+ are S%*T, i mean think about it, 52eps is like 21 hours of content. Thats a lot of time in film, if LotR can fit 3 books fairly well into 10hours 21hours is far enough for the majority of plots.
granted some animes can go over that and still be good (because they have a REAL plots) but these are rare...
and narutards make me sick Y,Y

I sorta dislike most anime to begin with (I can count the series I like on my fingers) but there is one big one that I enjoy: One Piece.
Why? I'm not quite sure. I enjoy more serious animes normally, and this is far from that. Its no where near short with its 200+ episodes, yet I'm not sick of it at all. After scratching my head for a few moments, I think this might be why I like it:
1. Pirates. Hard to go wrong with a show centered on a "pirate era", where most of the world is ocean.
2. Wierd abilities. Any dude that can come up with interesting strategies and personas for those with powers like producing candle wax at will, creating doors, and using soap bubbles as a weapon has my interest.
3. Light hearted. This is perhaps one of the most stupidly cheerful animes I have ever seen. There are some points of tragedy, and times where things get heavy, but its still pretty optimistic all and all.
If you want to trash this anime, I'm fine with that. But for the love of all that is holy, don't judge it off of the horrible censored stuff (I dunno about other countries, but in America its horrible). They replaced firearms with squirt guns, removed all of the bloody violence, and worst of all, replaced the whimsical music with rap. I won't even try to explain how badly they butchered the story. I know they do that with a lot of animes in America, but this one was exceptionally bad.
At least it beats Naruto (I know that isn't saying much). Just give it a chance, see for yourself.

LOL couldn't agree more. I was wanting to read the manga because I heard it was pretty good and I think fillers should be sent to hell by the most painful method possible. But I don't really have time. Ah also the bleach manga is really good but even in the manga the predictable switching from Ichigo to Chad to Ishida's battle is getting boreing I hope its gonna pick up soon.

I liked Naruto, then the filler ruined it for me. I don't know if I can go back to watching it. One Piece I love, I had no idea how badly it was butchered in the States! But I love the humour and the character's and the way they interact. I'm not big of pirates, and the sea isn't really my thing, but really, it's episode 200 and they're still getting a new member of the crew. Once Piece is great in my opinion, and it gets better and better. Even the fillers aren't so bad. I've started watching Bleach, as it's gotten deeper in the story, I've started to really like it. I didn't like up until episode 20 or so though, just running around killing "hollows" is stupid to me. But as soon as they started fighting other people I think it was great!

Oh one piece was butchered... It was butchered bad.
They actually changed the skin color of a few characters, changed the names of others, took out an entire portion of the series (Giant island I think, around 30 episodes), and a few other things.

Why do they do these things? Seriously, how do the developers let them turn it into such crap. Can they not just read the subtitles out loud and call it a dub? It infuriates me, because when I tell people I watch an anime, they see it on YTV and think it's for 5 year olds. Makes me look stupid. God Damn America(n translators they should be shot, hung and spit on)

Thats sad, because even I like One Piece =/
Its nice and different, no "Hey look i can fly!" or "Lets all be Ninjas and run around at night" plots. Mix of modern day scenario and pirates. And everyone loves pirates :).

It seems translations are world wide problem. Here in Brazil Naruto was translated to portuguese by Cartoon Network. Man it sux hard. About the fillers, the Naruto ones are the worst i ever saw, with very few decent fights or missions. They should have done like in Bleach fillers, they are nice, not wonderfull, but nice. I realy like Bleach but my favorite anime is Death Note for sure. It has good story and its impredctable.

also any of u heard of basilisk? its a good anime but havnt seen the end of it yet but i saw a movie based on it and i was curious as to the end of the anime like to the people get along and get married or end up killing eachother?
ciao.

I've never seen Naruto.
Basilisk, well... the anime is all right, so is the manga. The book, on which it is all based, is comparable -somewhat- with Musashi, it's good, however it can't beat Musashi. There's an English print of it available since last year. The movie "Shinobi"... sucked. They left out several characters, twisted and turned the storyline around, even changed the ending (I really liked the original ending).
Samurai Champloo, well, it's odd, but I was laughing my butt off, because of how odd it is.

So I watch the new Naruto. Twice. I rarely watch things twice. I think the first 5 minutes rekindled my love for the show. I think the beginning was a trailor for the movie that's coming out in the summer, looks nice. It's about time they finished those useless fillers. And I actually happen to like Bleach. Maybe it's just the kimono hakama and katanas I love.
Well, dare I say it, there's a new Samurai Anime out produced by some japanese guys and... Samuel L Jackson... Now I have mixed feelings about this one. The story is ****, the animation style and fighting is similar to Ninja Scroll, and the music is by the RZA. I think it's pretty terrible, but I also think it's okay for a time killer... probably because I love the RZA and Samuel L Jackson. But that's an anime I wouldn't recommend to anyone. The story is: "I have the number 2 headband, he has the number 1 headband, number 1 killed my pops. I have to kill him."

C'mon man...Afro Samurai is the only anime I've seen that has done what I wanted to do...throw a black guy in Japan. (My personal struggle...) Now I know that the story is pretty weak and the dubs are ok at best, but Afro Samurai shines in the artwork, fights, and music.
I agree, I've been watching Naruto since episode 100 released on Dattebayo and I've waited too dang long for him to grow up. And the filler just killed the series, but much like Tatsumaki, I've come back...and i'm pleased. I hope Naruto can do something more intersting than just clone and rasengan and involve more techniques.
Finally, Bleach. I just love Bleach. Unlike the endless filler in Naruto, just about each Bleach episode takes a progressive step forward. And the more recent story as me giggling wth joy but eh, different strokes...

Artwork, fights and music in afro samurai are great, but the dubs, and story is crap in my opinion. When I saw it for the first time I actually thought about you, Chronor, haha. But I have a hard time seeing what's going on in some of the fights, and the level of graphic gore isn't really my thing. I'd watch it to kill time, but it doesn't give me that same exciting "watch as many episodes as I can" feeling that animes like Bleach, Naruto and One Piece give me.
I think Naruto was well worth the wait. (i don't know if it's worth the fillers, i didn't watch them.) Bleach, you can't even tell you're watching fillers, I love it!

Actually, one can do it decently. A good director with a good script writer can do it. Take the LOTR movies. Yes, there were some changes, but they kept the storyline and the characters intact, unlike in Shinobi. PJ even casted them decently, unlike in Shinobi (of course Sawajiri's character bit the dust, when do her characters NOT die). It would certainly be worth for the film makers to follow the storyline as it has been established in books/manga/anime. But then they always have a "creative fit" and mess up things.
The movie ending of Shinobi, well, Oboro survives. Meh. Not to mention that Nakama was a bit too old for Oboro already (however, she was still a better choice than Yonekura in "Musashi" from 2003 as Otsu, yikes...)
This is common by now, though. Some anime/manga live-action versions are brilliant. Others just suck big time. And the ones that suck are usually the ones I'm interested in. Saikano live-action, dear god, that was so bad. How to completely mess up the storyline and even the characters (I still can't believe they completely ****ed up the Chise-Tetsu relationship that was so important for Chise's character to develop). And I don't even want to think of the NGE movie.

Everyone dies. Oboro and Gennosuke face off as the last survivors. Oboro kills herself, Gennosuke crosses out his name on the list, and kills himself. Oboro's clan, thus, wins, and both bodies sink into a river and are washed away.

Well, they are together. It's a rather typical Japanese ending, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of bunraku and kabuki plays with such an ending. Classic setup is a samurai daughter and the son of a merchant/craftsman.

I used to like Naruto very much, before it became famous in the States.....somewhow when it did translate over, and all those non-anime folks who's seen a few episodes think they know everything anime start wearing Naruto headbands, clothing, and other stuff.....i just started hating Naruto. I'd agree, it's hard to stay ahead of the times and be cool in the true geek fashion (get addicted to something few people know about) before America rapes what is good and holy. But it's just a product of supply and demand. People wanted Naruto shipped and they got it shipped. Horrible dubbing and endless fillers included...but shipped nonetheless.
