I only found out today that the gang at EoE do not get paid for making T:LaW. Is this true? And if it is, Great work, i will put in timeless effort into getting a preorder, cause this is where most of my teenage skills are about ;)

(i also have a bunch of friends who love ancient japan, ill see if i can get them into T:LaW)

Thats because they are the company and they cannot make any profit until the game is released, thats why there is the pre-order system. Beebe out.

Good, I also like the fact that I'm not bewildered by ads or popups. This all takes money to do and countless hours of time with the hope of having a sweet game for gamers.

So, needless to say they need your support, it also equals boost in morale and gusto to return to code.

Hat off to those giving thier time and monies to this game.

Where have you been Kuraku? Most of us, i think, knows that EoE doesnt get paid....yet. But yeah, i am trying to get my preorder out of the way, once i can get some reasonable cash, and ask for one of my old folks to use their paypal accounts or something, i will definitely preorder.

BTW, what are you guys at EoE doing with the money, and how are you planning to save it? :ponder:

Right now we're using it for our server, trying to get some advertising in, and some small licenses - but eventually we'll have to get a higher quality server for the game server, along with a whole host of different things that aren't exactly cheap.

Between the game and forum it doesn't seem like it would leave much time for anything else so what do you guys live off of while the game is in the making?

Hello,

About the pre-order option; it is stated that you get to design your own in-game item. Will that be like a one time deal, or will you get other options to do that later on? Will it be a one of a kind item, orrr? Could we just make some ceremonial items with that or do that have to be functional weapons/armor? I've often thought it a good idea to allow more player flexibility/creativity for paying more. I guess on this same note, the dev guys should do everything they can from an early point to disuade any eBaying of items/accounts/characters. I've seen eBay totally destroy good communities on other games. Most of the really good communties I've seen on online games consisted of less than 2 characters per server <if you have the option of 8 characters per server, eventually that is a detriment to community foundations, as there are no static characters to develope the community with> set up. Errmmm... lemme go try to find the dev contact section for this, haha, sorry.

Officially its a one time deal, but the crafting system allows you to do -pretty much- the same thing.
However, we'll make sure that the item is fully unique and impossible to recreate.

And we'll try to monitor eBay, and IP logs in case anyone buys or sells their account there.

Hello,

Sounds really good, just seen how eBay can wreak havok on games in the past.

I do believe that some of the design may help limit the amount of ebaying since this game is more of a simulation then an RPG which focuses on the acquisition of "phat loot" and high levels.

On a note towards advertising, Google ads seem to be pretty sleek. For a developement project like this, I myself wouldn't mind a few ads, since google ads can be made to be pretty sleek, and the colours match up well. I know a few people who have liked having them on their small sites to generate a bit of revenue. It's just a thought anyways.

Wasn't this thread about promoting pre-order?

Three pre order questions in the case of that "lifetime preorder":

A) What does the term "lifetime" means? Some companies count "lifetime" as 10 years, some other means 15 years and so on. Only few means, what it is it: the lifetime of the product.

B) What about this "10 years validity period?"

C) What's happens, if the company decides to shut down the project after 1, 2 or 3 years after someone pre ordered the "Lifetime Pre order"? Will that one get some money back?

And thats why mosy people won't be buying a lifetime subscription until the game is acctually gone gold.
