So yesterday, I was looking for some games to play on my parents comp (mines still down. I know its makes me cry too). I went to download.com (dont shun me please, I was looking for something small) and I came accross a couple games I thought I would try out. The first one wasn't so good, but had a link to a sweet looking one (Time n Tales, but the site is all in korean or japanese or chinese) But I went to the Sci Fi section and found a game called Space Cowboy. I followed the link and checked it out. Its pretty sweet from what I've played (only a few hours). The game is set in the future on another planet (I assume) were there is a government who is pro segregation of the people vs rebel forces who are against segregation. You can choose from four 'gears', airplane/tank like vehicles (depends on which you choose). Each gear has certain advantages, weapons it can use, skills, speed, defense etc. Each gear can use a primary and an advanced weapon. Primarys are often machine guns, chain guns etc. while the advanced are missles (in the case of my gear, an airplane like one).

Also as you level you are allowed to alot attribute points. You have missions (1 for each level and they almost level you up everytime) and there is PvP, although I havent done it yet. There is also a little bit of crafting used to upgrade armours etc. Anyway if you wanna check it out, theres only one server and my main is named Nilchi and is for the rebels. www.spacecowboy.net

I took a look at it, but theres only one screenshot and nothing else... Is it a space game, or just on a planet? Do you play a 'gear' or a human (Can you get out of the 'gear')?

so far ive only been on a planet, but yes, you do get out of the gear when your in town. Normally you aren't in town very much though, cause they have supply centers in most areas. At this supply centers, you can restock on ammo, health, shields, and fuel. But you still go to towns after each mission (it puts you there) and to buy/sell things and to make things.

EDIT: Also if you sign up, I know that Netscape wont work, but IE will. I dont know about FF or Opera or anything else. And Sykoi's right, theres only one screenshot, but you can check out the gears under the information section (dont remember what its called) and theres a section called gears

Is there a Swordfish and do I get to say "Bang!" when I shoot people!? Wonder how many times Spike Spiegel has been tried for the name... I'll check it out, though. It does look interesting!

The game is interesting, i've been playing for it for a while. but its still doesnt have a feature that makes it an impact. <-- in my views. its combat system is like a flight simulator, although a bit simplified, but it takes a while to kill something, as any thing that flies in the game goes very fast, including your GEAR, so the only real chance of hitting something is using your locking missiles. then theres the outofGEAR part. i know they focus on the GEARs, but at least put some effort in the humans too. all the models and almost everything else looks cr*p.

then theres the functionality, there's only one person to take missions from and its completely static, at least for the first part of the game. but overall, the game is unique in its own way; it probably prefer a real simulator over this though, its just cool cuz its online.

I downloaded this and played it for like 10 minutes, hah. It was pretty cool flying around and doing tricks online and all. I killed a few monsters, saw some other people fly around and ran around out of my ship. The player models are alright, but they suck. The gun ships are nice and look alot better than the players do heh.

This is good for a free game, but I say planetside is much more fun, though this hs more freedom for just flying.

You, sir, speak of the Devil, Xenetic! Planetside?! Man, Sony? Yuck... I've played around with SoE for far too long!

At least you got to play it... it seemed really fun, and I was excited to try it, but alas, it hates my computer! And you killed monsters, you say? Space Squid?
