Pop on :D Slots 02-24-2006, 10:23 AM ah... <3 the fact that that must only apply to console gamers o.0... i dont see this ... inablity to interact with people that they speak of... and i also dont play games when i should be doing my class work... >.> Ronin 02-24-2006, 01:14 PM Lol, i did ia report on the benefits of videogaming as a 6 page research paper and i got like a B+, so i know the little amount of that i heard was false, it is from an old article i saw once in like a really old news archive selmo 02-24-2006, 01:16 PM ah... <3 the fact that that must only apply to console gamers o.0... i dont see this ... inablity to interact with people that they speak of... and i also dont play games when i should be doing my class work... >.> yeah even when im not playing games which i rarley play now adays im still not doing it on homework...i have a theory that the reason kids dont want to do homework...is cause homework sucks...just a theory though moses 02-24-2006, 02:39 PM i love how they say they ditch their friends but then show them playin with their friends.... AAronB 02-24-2006, 05:37 PM Eh i think they were all brothers. moses 02-24-2006, 05:49 PM who said brothers cant be friends :P ya, i was only listening in and out. ninjaxmaster 02-24-2006, 06:21 PM Yeah, that part where it says kids ditch their friends to play video games is rather stupid. I get the most fun out of video games when I play with my friends. Even if they're not playing in the same room as me, I do play with some of them over the internet... Of course, this mostly only applies to FPS/mmo/guitar-hero, most games based around single player I just play by myself, but the most time I spend on those at once is about an hour. I do however regular skip out on my homework to play video games, but mostly because I don't even get grades for doing homework anymore. The teachers just give me and my classmates homework to practice... I think that news crew just based their story around one family, and then relied on scientific testimonies for information. My reason for thinking this is, majoratively, everything they stated appeared to be happening to the kids in that specific family, though all of my gamer friends are nothing like that, minus the few 'aggro':p friends I have... I guess I'm just speaking from my own experience there, but the way all you guys/girls responded makes it seem like that's (kind of) your experience as well. nobody4422 02-24-2006, 07:07 PM Yeah arent journalists funny? Thats why the only place I get my news is The Daily Show. Sure its crap, but at least theyre admitting it. I didnt watch the clip (dial-up) but I can tell you they only did the piece as filler, they did no fact checking, and the reason why they went with the anti-video game stance is the same reson they say media causes violence and all children have ADD. Its simply what people, espcially parents with kids that have somesort of "problem" want to hear. One of the reasons I cant stand news programs. ToshiMaru 02-24-2006, 08:13 PM this is funny because they retell the same sterotypes that has been going on for years. addictive games, anti-school, fast&furious.....like, we know that. In reality, a lot of games do teach you things that are valueable in life; in some ways or another. And the part about homework, its not because of games, people ditch homework already because they dont like it, plus other reasons. Some of my best friends play games crazily like me, but they do exceptionally great in school, even better than most smart kids. Kondo Isami 03-10-2006, 09:15 PM lol.. it seems like someone recorded what ido in a day and put in on youtube lol! kyohisakawa 03-13-2006, 11:55 PM Well, the way I see it, video games are a way to escape reality. Crack is a way to DISTORT reality. Video games are addictive, but they are definitely a better way to vent frustrations than say... punching someone in the head. I've never had violent tendencies from playing a video game, anyway. And I find online games are much more fun that singleplayer, so it's a social thing for me, too. Spike 03-13-2006, 11:59 PM Yep its a bunch of political correctness garbage. Katsuro 03-15-2006, 06:13 PM video didnt show ._. Senshi 03-15-2006, 06:41 PM Video Games make me procrastinate. Out of the 3 reports Due soon I only have 1 done. XD *Gos back to Silkroad Online and watches people with the new pets walk by.* *And then counts RL money to see if has enough for Monkey* *And then says I love the Item Mall =D* *doesn't remember to do reports* Kamakiri 03-16-2006, 05:22 PM Video Games are modern story-telling. Just as video killed the radio star, so do video games trump books. Modernization isn't always to everyones liking, but thats what it comes down to. Video games are interactive books. Movie's are visual books. I don't really know where to go from that, but those are my thoughts on the subject. |
