A large part of our community is made up of younger children, which means we have to enforce the rules below; please take the time to read through them, and follow them.

The following rules apply to every area of this forum, unless noted otherwise
Rules:

No racist, derogatory, or otherwise insulting comments of any types directed at any person, organization, or fictional race.
No spamming
No lies, unless you can hide them extremely well.
Posts must be read-able. That means no excessive misspelling or poor grammar.
No "1337" speak or AoL talk.
No links, discussions or reference to illicit material.
No flame wars outside the designated area!
No excessive use of the font colors, sizes, or styles.
Don't double post, there is an edit button for a reason.
All posts must be over 5 words long, if you can not make your post longer than 5 words, then rethink your post.
No spamming, or trolling.
No pornographic or graphically disturbing material.
One forum account per user.
Regardless of artistic reasons, Avatars may not contain nudity or excessive graphic violence.
Changing the colour of your name to resemblence the colour of the admins/mods is not permitted.

Violations to these rules might result in any of the following:

Post being modified/deleted.
Thread being locked/deleted.
Warning (and you only get one).
24 Hour ban.
Permanent ban.
Any other penalty that if none of the above fit, suits the situation appropriately may also be commissioned.

The decision if a rule has been violated or not is entirely based upon the decision of the moderators or administrators. The same goes for any given penalty.

Moderators / Administrators are the only ones both permitted and capable of enforcing the rules. If a rule-violation has taken place, use the "Report Bad Post" feature in order to get a Moderator / Administrator’s attention.

Any decisions made by Moderators / Administrators are final, and may not be overruled. However, if the situation is unnaturally unfair, or if a penalty has been given on false grounds, please contact a Moderator / Administrator and politely address the matter.

IRC Rules

The IRC rules are as follow;

- No spamming. This includes unauthorized scripts and bots, repeatedly pasting or writing the same message multiple times, and excessive use of colors, bold font, or capitalized text.
- No vulgar, racist, or offensive language. This includes but is not limited to swearing and harrassment of any kind.
- All communication should be in the English language.
- Bots (clients that have automated responses to certain commands), are prohibited.
- Do not change your nickname in order to communicate when a channel is moderated.
- Do not post links containing offensive or vulgar content.

The general policy for rule violations is as follows;

1st offense - A warning is given and the violator is instructed to read the IRC rules.
2nd offense - The user is kicked from the channel.
Repeated offenses - The user is banned for 1 hour in the channel.

Severe rule violations may however result in a long-term or permanent ban. This is entirely at the IRC ops discretion.

If you have been banned:

- Do not start web board topics about being banned and/or kicked. It will only make the ban last longer.
- Only ask the op who banned you to remove the ban.

If you feel you have been banned unfairly, you may appeal the decision by sending a message to either Sykoi or Greven, either through the Eyesoute Web Boards or by IRC.

=================

The IRC ops are all the forum moderators, super moderators, EoE Team members and forum administrators.

Private Messages
Don't want to post an off-topic reply?
Want to make a comment to just one person, instead of the entire forum?
Use Private Messages!! :D

Either:
1. Click the person's name in a post's heading.
A drop-down menu should appear.
Choose: "Send a private message to <person's name>"
On the next screen; add any additional member names, enter a title for the message, write and customize your message, and submit!

2. Click the "Members List" link in the navigation bar.
Search for the person's name.
In the 'Contact' column, click the [SendPM] button.
On the next screen; add any additional member names, enter a title for the message, write and customize your message, and submit!

3. Click their name at the bottom of the forum's main page.
There is a section called "What's Going On?"
All of the members that have logged on this day have their names listed.
Click the name, this will bring up some basic information.
In the 'Contact Info' section there is a link to send a private message.

You can check your private messages by following the link under your name in the navigation bar (top-right of the page).
Or click "User CP." Your profile has a section for messages in the left column.

Let's try to keep the forum as clean as possible.
Thanks.

Help with English

Some people have mentioned that they have trouble with English.
You're not alone!
English consists of rules from, at least, 6 different languages.
History of English (http://www.wordorigins.org/histeng.htm)
Trying to keep this all straight is difficult.

If you want to learn more, here are some online links that might help.

Grammar: Grammar Station (http://www.grammarstation.com/grammarguide/)
They have links to basic and advanced rules.
They also have grammar and spelling checkers, however, you have to register.
(Registration looked safe. I didn't see mention about payment)

Dictionary: Dictionary (http://www.m-w.com/)
This also has a thesaurus, and a tab to an encyclopedia.

Hope this helps.

(In no way do I consider English to be perfect, nor better than any other language.
The forum is English-based, so I posted English language links.)

Simplified rules:
For those of you who do not want to read through the guidelines we have posted above, there is a flash video that will explain rules that nearly all communities (Including our own) follow.
Warning: Contains 'foul language' of sorts.
