A clear sign that there a storm, and almost always true to form, when you hearing me clashing, soon you'll see the lightning flashing. Good luck! Two explanations for this: One is that the event of thunder and lightning happen at the same time, but because light travels faster than sound you see the lightning first. The second explanation is that lightning causes thunder. In any event, I can't recall a storm that just had one lightning or thunder clap, which would fit the riddle. They both go hand in hand.
