View Full Version : The Sims Online: Japan

I've been thinking deeply about this issue for a couple of days now. The issue is this, if you read through the suggestion posts for every good suggestion there are 2 bad ones. The reason i've titled the post "The Sims: Japan" is this: many people are posting suggestion just so they can try and influence the DEV's ideas, ideas such as breeding and marriages, are unnessesary, soon we will have posts like "Hey Sykoi, would it be a great idea if we could urinate". While i understand we all want a realistic world, sometimes less is more and if too many features are added to the game we will end up with as i sayed before "The Sims Online: Japan". Beebe out.

I agree, even I, have posted one or two of these silly ideas. And for everyone i have, i have apologised and edited it. If the game was TOO real, it would get booring, and if it were NOT real enough, it wouldn't be exiting. These forums are made to post SUITABLE ideas to help them make what WE (the buyer) looks in for a game. I hope reading this at least influences some people to read before they post a suggestion or idea.

I'm not so sure; Tatsumaki: Land at War isn't exact a simulator - its more of a game; although it does have a good deal of relaxation elements inside the game, it was never meant to be like 'The Sims', 'There', 'Project Entropia', or 'Second Life'. (Althouh, yes - I want it to be realistic, and similar to life - I don't want it to end up like any of the games I just mentioned - They all have their own problems)

We may include unromantic marriages, but breeding is probably a no no - since a good majority of our player base is under 16.

(I say unromantic marriage simply because I can not stand online marriages, when both parties are serious; it leads to problems in real life, and theres a good chance at least one of the parties involved is married - an even greater chance that the real life spouse will find out and divorce the other.

It leads to problems I don't want to deal with.)

Whoops... I just woke up and thought you wanted a sim, sorry about that :P

No sorry about confusing you. What i was trying to say is that a lot of suggestions are trying to make the game like "The Sims Online: Japan", whereas while the DEVs are trying to make the game realistic they dont want a sim, as you just said. I was trying to make people think before they post too many sim like suggestions. Beebe out.

Why is noone taking attention to my Microsoft Emplyee post? That could have been a very funny remark.

I think Sykoi has it perfect and I'm glad he is creating this game. The main thing is balance! If you can create a good balance between RL and fantasy you have a good game.

So far, I dont mind having it like that,
I've been looking for a game where you dont have to fight, you can just farm or trade rather than constantly battle monsters and invaders.
Being able to do something other than continiously fighting is great.

Soooo, you've never been married? ;)
(Marriage is great. I love my wife. :D )

And yes, if the game gets too "real," it won't be as much fun.
I want to enjoy playing, and not be bogged down with too many mundane activities. (Occasional eating and sleeping is fine.)

amen to that, i tried playing the sims once and if you didnt cheat it was, in my opinion, horrifically tiresome. Sweat i get to make a digitized mike pee just like the real mike!!! no thanks...

I agree. I want my character to have to eat, sleep, and drink; but not to the point where it ruins the fun of the game. Weather effecting you is also a good thing, as it means more strategy and depth to the game. Farmers need to know when to and when not to plant crops, and military leaders won't want to attack an enemy in 5 feet of snow when its -20 degrees (F) outside :)

Marriage huh???? obviously its a great RP idea, but ultimately i wont like it, like what Sykoi said, it leads to problems  , having a girlfriend in real life is tough enough, cant and wont imagine one ingame.

Have you guys considered that your girlfriends might think something when she finds out your were having another affair with some game character???

lol Takashi. But seriously, it could start problems with parents and guardians of kids. for example one day little 14 year old Johnny will go to his parents and say "I got married to this hot chick last night and now were gonna have a baby!" And they might live in Las Vegas :o But still on the serious problems they would get a lot of complaints.

They shouldnt do it. And probably wont for that matter.

Ok guys lets get this straight, the reason i created this thread initially was because i thought too many people arn't thinking before they write and ending up making preposterous and making fools of themselve. The majority of posts have proved excatly what i have been talking about. Other than Kurakushin, who understood from the outset what i was talking about and Sykoi who understood after i rectified the issue with him, no one has understood what i have been talking about and proceeded in an attempt to argue with me. However the complete time you have all been argeeing with me. So in the future, read the post and we will all have a great time. Cheers to you all. Beebe out.

Greven actually understood it as well (amazing indeed) and therefore found Sykoi's post a bit amusing.

With your last post Redback, I'm now going to lock the thread, since in my opinion the "discussion" has ended here. The point has been taken, and I think (and hope) that most people will actually look back at this once they make their suggestions and what not.
