View Full Version : My absence

Sykoi

As many of you have noticed, I have been absent from the forums, and IRC.
I'd like to apologize for this, but its been beyond my control - I have been somewhat sick* lately and have had no energy to do much of anything.

However, rest assured that once I get better I'll finish all of those little things waiting for me (Finish adding new arcade games, launch the new eyesoute.com site, open the eyesoute irc server, and so on).

If you think theres something I need to do when I get better, or even right now - go ahead and mention it in a reply to this thread and I'll try to get right on it.

*If there are any med students here, I wouldn't mind knowing what I'm sick with :p... Even after 12 hours of sleep, I wake up completely fatigued with no mental or physical energy of any kind. This has obviously limited my ability to do much of anything.

Don't push yourself. The usual: fluids (not beer), rest, go see a doctor (even the campus health center).

Have you looked at: WebMD (http://www.webmd.com/)?

Sykoi

Yup, none of the symptoms follow mine... And I really doubt its mono :p

Doctor is 20 miles away, followed by an hour long wait in a cramped waiting room with other sick people (Thats not counter-productive at all, is it?), followed once again by waiting in a small(er) room for another 15-20 minutes.

No thanks! :p

The answer is ... PRIVATE HEALTHCARE. My cost an arm and a leg, but after they fix you up, you wont need the arm or the leg

Move out of Kansas, you yokel. :PYeah. Out in the sticks, don't the doctors make house calls on their horse and buggy?

Yeah. Out in the sticks, don't the doctors make house calls on their horse and buggy?

I hear they still use drills to fix headaches and insanity. Gotta drain the bad humours!!

If that's all your feeling... No pain anywhere?
Then it's just mental fatigue... Sleeping too much can cause more sleepyness. What you should do is try a change in routine. Computers are known to cause fatigue as well, and we all know you been spending alot of time doing that. Go out and party with lots of girls.

Another thing... Thyroid. rapid wight gain or loss can be signs of a thyroid problem. Can even cause the feeling of things not being real, fatigue and sometimes hallucinations. Even naturally being overly skinny can mean your thyroid is over active.

I know of something you should remember to do when you get back:

Remind everyone to give you biiiiigggg hugs! That way it wont be a long time untill you get sick again!

Go out and party with lots of girls.

That's a cure for almost any ailment. Hahah, just joking. Sometimes a lethargic spell like that can be caused by not getting enough sunlight, or possibly a lack of an essential vitamin or possibly mild depression.

I don't know how much he works. =p

Shinin, you mean lack of vitamin D?

ShininShado
10-01-2005, 10:19 AM
Yes, vitamin D (or a certain type of it) is produced in the body when we get sunlight. Not enough can lead to depression-like symptoms. Also not getting enough C (which I think is the best thing for our bodies) or B can cause sluggishness and lethargy.

--

"Ideally, the best place to get vitamin D is from your skin being exposed to the UV-B that is in normal sunlight. Vitamin D from sunlight acts as a pro-hormone, rapidly converting into 25-hydroxyvitamin D. Many experts believe that there is no harm in the vitamin D concentrations associated with sun exposure and that such levels are probably optimal for human health.

...UV-B also stimulates the production of MSH, an important hormone in weight loss, energy production..." http://www.mercola.com/2002/feb/23/vitamin_d_deficiency.htm

--

"Vitamin D prevents osteoporosis, depression, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and even effects diabetes and obesity. Vitamin D is perhaps the single most underrated nutrient in the world of nutrition (see related ebook on nutrition). That's probably because it's free: your body makes it when sunlight touches your skin. Drug companies can't sell you sunlight, so there's no promotion of its health benefits.

...Vitamin D is produced by your skin in response to exposure to ultraviolet radiation from natural sunlight...Even though vitamin D is one of the most powerful healing chemicals in your body, your body makes it absolutely free. No prescription required..." http://www.newstarget.com/003069.html

"Chronic Fatigue syndrome is viewed by many as a state of easy fatiguability that has persisted for over six months and is not due to another identifiable illness. It may have followed an acute or repeated infection such as 'fluš, viral sore throat or, sometimes, a tropical illness.

Disruption of daily routine is expected as even modest physical activity results in marked physical or mental fatigue from which the patient may take several hours or days to recover. There are also many associated and diverse symptoms including muscle pains (which may worsen after exercise), enlarged and sometimes painful neck glands, depression, sleep disturbance, mood change, poor concentration or poor memory, headaches and mild fever or sweats.

Subsequent studies have confirmed that deficiencies in Vitamin B6 together with Vitamins B1 & B12, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and, to a lesser extent, the other B vitamins can all cause fatigue as an early feature of a deficiency state.Furthermore they all influence some aspects of immune system, muscle and neurological function and thus could be important in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome." http://www.synergy-health.co.uk/healthnews/cfs20000221.html

--

From what you've told us, I'd guess it is a deficiency of: VITAMIN B-1 (Thiamin), VITAMIN B-2 (Riboflavin), NIACINAMIDE (Niacin- vitamin B-3), BIOTIN, or PABA (Para Amino Benzoic Acid). Deficiencies of most these can cause either fatigue and/or depression. I"m not a doctor, but taking some of these and getting sunlight would help ya feel better without a doubt.

Pheifer...it sounds like Pheifer to me. It's nothing serious, really. Pheifer basicly drains all your energy and you don't feel like doing anything. You can get it from other people through physicall contact, like kissing (yeah...) or even from having a sip from someone's soda. I'd advice visiting a doctor for it to be curtain. If it is Pheifer your going to be like this untill it wears off (prolly half a year) since it's a virus there's no medicine against it. I agree with SWK, go to see a doctor ;)

Get better soon, chief.

In the mean time, though... you would probably get better faster if you gave me a job doing something. Relatively cool. And I got a cool title. With lots of fluff around it. Oh. And candies. Everybody loves candy.

Seriously. Gimme a job. (And candy!) :D

Actually I go to a class every once and awhile (College), about one class a year :p
And sorry once again for hiding away, I'm still sick but have been well enough to come around here from time to time... But I haven't felt up to it (A few thousand posts to read isn't exactly an attractive prospect)

But hopefully I'm back for good now, and once I find an artist - eyesoute.com will go up again, and once I find an easy to use video splicing program - Tatsumaki will have a new video (Possibly with a sneak peek at our new game ;))
