-The Bouchou Family-
Bouchou means “protection against the tide”.

The Bouchou family is an Imperial Faction loyal to the Shogunate; we will be known as Magistrates. Magistrates will be responsible for investigating all sorts of criminal activity and punishing those who are caught. Questioning our authority is like questioning the Shogun’s.

The Bouchou Family will not stand for any corruption, thieves, assassins, murders, drug dealers, and anyone else who decides to break the law will be hunted down viciously. The Bouchou family will also try and monitor all wars that go on within Tatsumaki, if they are not justified we will step in and settle the problem as we see fit. We are fully devoted to the Shogun, if any Magistrate decides to question his authority; they may find themselves stripped of all belongings. If a Magistrate becomes corrupted in any way, the immediate penalty will be removal from the family and death.

Duty and Honor is everything to a Magistrate of the Bouchou family. Magistrates will meet once a week to report their activities to the Gensui (General). We will go over completed tasks and missions, which we will then pay each member and award them with a new rank or special item from our community chest (explained later on). Pay will depend on how much cash is flowing through our family. If a Magistrate fails in his duties, he may be demoted and lose all pay for that week. When you join the Bouchou Family, you will automatically be granted the lowest rank “Magistrate”, if you join before beta I will grant the highest rank of a division of your choice. As a member you will also be entitled to all items that The Bouchou family can create. There will be a community chest where members can drop off items and money donations to keep the family running (you will not be required to pay fees in this family). The Gensui(s) (General) will determine who gets what based on need then rank; higher priced items will be saved for those that achieve high ranks. We will also pay for any training that may advance your fighting skills, or even help purchase your first home. (My plan for this family is to build our homes near each other and eventually build a castle around us)

Magistrates of the Bouchou family can take jobs outside of the family, as long as they are deemed honorable by a Gensui (we will not be to strict on this as long as you are not committing a crime). You can easily have a life outside of the Magistrates as long as you remember that we are your first priority. We would just like to keep an eye on where you are; in case we need some information from your location. Honorable quests outside the family will also help raise your rank in the family. All members will report to their Gensui since that is the highest rank obtainable in each division.

I will be the daimyo of the Bouchou family and I will run the family in a council like fashion with my Gensui(s). The Gensui(s) will then run there division as they see fit and yes there can be more then one Gensui to a division.

There will be three different divisions of the Bouchou Family:

Keigo Division will consist of our bodyguards, personal escorts (not prostitutes), and security forces.
1st Rank: Magistrate
2nd Rank: Chief Magistrate
3rd Rank: Chianbutai (Security force) or Youjinbou (Bodyguard)
4th Rank: Master Youjinbou/Chianbutai
5th Rank: Issou (Commander/Major) of the Division
6th Rank: Gensui (General) of the Division

Gai Division will consist of those interested in investigation work, punishing criminals, and hunting down assassins. This group will also govern/monitor all criminal activity and major battles that go on between families. This will be are largest force, thus more ranks.

1st Rank: Magistrate
2nd Rank: Chief Magistrate
3rd Rank: Chousain (investigator) or
Kenji (prosecutor)
4th Rank: Master Kenji or Chousain
5th Rank: Issou of the Division
6th rank: Gensui of the Division

Chikaundou Division will consist of all our underground business; this will be kept secret for now. Once the family is formed, members will be sent a PM with the ranks and what activities this division will participate in.

My intentions are to have a council full of Gensui Magistrates.

Daimyo Uchimaro

If you would like to become a Gensui (General) of this family feel free to PM me.

Any questions or suggestions, feel free to toss in a comment or two!

Yeah, someone has to be on the other side of the law. In time, hopefully more people will show their support. If not, I will have to handle as much as I can on my own.

Yeah, I think I have received like 30 death threats ever since I started creating this family. The problem is, even if someone wishes to make a law abiding family, they still want to be considered outcasts.

If I am the only one in this family, I will probably stick to bodyguard work for now. If I see a crime taking place, I will stop it, but you will not find me investigating anything.

I will be sure to keep bumping this thread up with improvements.

Kewl.
This family has caught my eye. (Ouch!)
Gai Division - Hunter/Investigator?
Wasn't thinking about joining one, however, I like the potential for this one.

(p.s. Comicartist22 - I'd still want to kill you. :-P )

Ok, Comicartist, once the game starts i forecast giant improvemens in your family, to many people will try to be bad without a family and then get killed or jailed
they will then either join a chaotic family, like mine, or join a law enforcing family like yours after many futile attempts at being evil and try to see if it will be cool to fight with the law on their side.
So keep this family up for a long time....

As for the death threats.... you will be dead if you snoop around families, so i recommend just setting up in a village until your numbers grow and you can actually enforce the law. OR you can make money and hire merc families, like my family, the Ikko Family, or like Trin's family, The Kiri Shini Family. If you want some protection from us, just pm me and i will set up about getting you a bodyguard.

You will probably find me running a few quests here and there, which will give me the chance to patrol a few towns. No matter what happens I am sticking with this family. Judging from your list of families for "hire", I hope there is enough money to go around.

Don't worry Uchimaro, although the Togakure is not really a "crime-fighting, super good guys" type of family, we will help if your cause is just and help is desperately needed (and if we are not incredibly busy with our own affairs). It won't be for mercenary motives also, but as a means to maintain balance and harmony in the region which otherwise would spin violently out of control.

Don't worry about death threats by the way, or people telling you not to snoop around or not do this and not do that. "They" aren't scared of you, ergo you shouldn't be scared of them either. Numbers does not always matter. Be strong and have no fear.

BTW, I think the emperor during this time in real life had no real powers (more of just a figurehead), so I do not know if there will be any validity in serving the emperor that way if the game will be influenced by the sengoku era. Maybe you should serve a daimyo or be like a bodyguard family for the emperor, heh, just something for you to think about.

Jin, I really like the basis for your family, especially since you mentioned that protecting our "country" was one of your priorities.

I will keep up with this family and if all goes well I may get a few members, but if it tanks, I may end up sending a resume your way.

...BTW, I think the emperor during this time in real life had no real powers (more of just a figurehead)... Yeah. Technically, it should be: a family dedicated to the Imperial Faction following the orders of the Shogun.
A family of Loyalists. (Something like America's FBI, but hopefully competent. . edit: Samurai are already wearing 'dresses,' so this should be easy.;) )

sound right?

(I wouldn't mind taking missions directly from the Emperor, though. Wild, Wild West[East?], style. Give me my own train, and I'll sign up! :D )

Hey SunWu that is a great idea, I will update the family bio and make it more so an Imperial Faction loyal to the Shogunate. Thanks for posting that, I am willing to change the bio to make it more appealing to the masses, as long as we still maintain the same goals.

If you have any suggestions on the ranks, feel free to post them.

^given that there even is a shogunate (there was no shogunate yet in the historical time frame that parallels with tatsumaki's time, families/clans were still feuding; sengoku period) and all the warring families have been unified (thus no more internal strife in Japan).

...but I still haven't gotten an answer from a develop whether we are going to following the same kind of time frame, although I'm pretty certain we are since it is Tatsumaki: Land at War.

Comicartist22

I think I went through this problem before. At first I had this family devoted to the Shogun. I changed that to Emperor because we questioned whether there would be a Shogun in Tatsumaki. Now I changed it back to Shogun because many are saying that the Emperor had no real power during those times.

It is still a toss up between the Emperor and the Shogun, we will just have to wait until Beta to see what happens.

^Hmmmm, the power might be divided between the many landowners or daimyos like how it was in the real japanese time frame. That's another possibility. So we could have families controlling portions of the land like the daimyos back then did.

If we are creating families, wouldn't it be wise to have a Daimyo. I would have liked to have my family work in a council like fashion. I may change up my current ranks and divisions a bit, right now it seems really sloppy.

If I do change it, I will become Daimyo of the Bouchou Family and I will have the Generals (Gensui) of each division report to me. The Generals (Gensui) will then run their division as they see fit.

Undecided Uchimaro

Just to let you know I tried to clean up the ranks and how the family will run a bit. If there is anything else you would like me to add or fix just let me know.

Why not, I am tossing all these ranks around and what not. I might as well claim myself to be the first Shogun of Tatsumaki, probably work wonders for my rep. :)
