The Band of Ronin

[Ronin]

I am putting out a call for all others interested in being ronin! We should form a group called the Band of Ronin! There are basically no rules except when we are called together for work, or war, we must gather. We all are obligated to help eachother, at a small fee. You won't have to pay the fee if the other doesn't want it. We will work for whoever will pay and do as we please. When one of us is sent to jail or captured in war we must all assemble to help them out! Who will join me?!

Might as well set up the True Ronin code: Our code is to do anything possible to complete a job or personal wish. Also we must give the proper respect to other True Ronins in service and gratitude.

I'm just gonna set everything up in this one post so i can copy it when i start the band up for real

Base of Operations: none
Ranking System: You are ranked by how many jobs you have completed and also how you did them, if i hear a recommendation from your employer i will give you one recommendation point.

Rank 1: Ronin (0 jobs)

A Ronin is basically a recruit with almost no job experience.

Rank 2: True Ronin (3 jobs 1 Recommendation)

A True Ronin is a Ronin that has shown enough skill to have been recommended once and has enough job experience to be able to help with actual battles.

Rank 3: Guardian (7 jobs 2 Recommendations)

A Guardian is a advanced True Ronin. Once someone reaches this rank they will be able to help with commanding battles. These people command some respect from the Ronin.

Rank 4: True Guardian (13 jobs 4 Recommendations and trusted by a True Leader)

A True Guardian represents the second highest True rank and commands respect from all subordinates, but only a little. These people are trusted with the utmost important tasks for the preservation of the band and may be put in charge of whole battles by themselves. They may call gatherings for jobs.

Rank 5:True Leader (20 jobs, 20 recommendations, trusted by a True Leader, 1 battle)

A True Leader helps run the entire band and is to be given the respect a battle hardened warrior expects, the utmost. This is the highest rank for all True Ronin. They can call gatherings for battles and jobs.

Leader Rank: The Truth (me and possibly one other)

These are the main commanders of the band, they can call a gathering for anything and are the main deciders when it comes to anything from parties to engaging wars.

Also there is no restrictions about being a ninja, we need one, despite all my anti-ninja talk i think they are awesome...

Well, we aren't a family, we are a band. We are a standalone army. WE are true Ronin! For the Band! (not that the Gokai aren't... lol)

plus we don't operate on such weak principles as honor. we do what we need to do, we don't exactly have a base of operations(at least not for a while) and it has almost no rules except to help eachother and spring eachother from jail. we are not as law abiding, and we will take the first step to a new way of life! The life of a True Ronin!

I just want to put in my say into this. The first thing I would like to say is that I admire your individualism. You have started something the same yet entirely different. Though you may embody the true ronin spirit...from what I've read it lacks certain order. If you do not know the true meaning of the word a ronin is a former Samurai. And when a samurai, even a ronin, completely casts away his honor he completely rids himself of that thing that serperates him from the lower forms of society. So if you do not live by honor even if you are a ronin then you are nothing more than some bandit on the road.

By no means do I mean offense by what I'm saying. I love competition. However, do not soil the name of fellow ronin by saying that only your kind follow its true ways. Again I mean no offense. If anything I mean it as a compliment as to your arrogance shows the manner of a true warrior. A very interesting foe indeed....

What i mean by True Ronin is that we don't care what others think, it is just a movement and by no means "truer" than others, And i almost never take offence, as everything has its own... underlieing statements, i thank you for the compliments and hope we can work together some day, as allies... or if not, then as worthy enemies. If you want to work something out, please do not hesitate to ask me, by blades or by words. As for you Selmo, i will set you on my "to fight list". But how about a little wager, if i can manage to beat you will you join us? we need every strong person we can get....

What I think ABC was trying to say is that even ronin have some honor and by saying that you have no honor, although you may have the skills of ronin/samurai, you are just a bandit and shouldn't call yourselves ronin.

And btw, if you are not a family, shouldn't you be posting elsewhere because aren't these boards for developing families? This just sounds like a mecenary militia type of thing. And I mean no offense at all, but I think the ranking structure/whole idea is a little lacking or loose and some ideas are contradicting others. You probably are still working out the details and all, but you might want to think about it some more. Ever thought of joining Gokai-Shido? Although there are differences, the differences aren't that big of a difference (except the whole no honor thing) and they could possibly benefit from having another ronin, wouldn't they abc?

um, dude a family is just a guild, it is a fancy way of saying guild, and i have seriously considered joining the Gokai Shido.... except for 1 problem, u gotta pay 1/2 of ur earnings to the leader!(not that that is a bad i dea, but the profits will be slim at best in the begginning and i couldn't have afforded to join u) I would've joined u totally, but for that one thing. pm me if you want to work out some kind of truce between us, Shira.

I know that a family is basically a guild. But I'm saying it's not really clear what you are trying to achieve with this "band" other than monetary values and I don't think the monetary values would be that much greater than ronin doing their own thing or joining a family that's more "closely-knit" if you will.

Basically a family is a guild as you said, so that means a band is basically a family if you don't think of the generally perceived context of what a family is. So being as that may, there still is some bond between the members of a guild/band/family/clan. If there isn't, than there is no respect, and no respect means no structure and ranks. You have ranks, but other than having referrent powers (which is power someone has because people rever that person and respects them) no one will follow someone with a high rank if they are asses. Sure, experience from completing jobs comes into play for referrent power, but like I said, if the subordinates do not like the officers in your band based on personality or whatever, no matter what the monetary benfits they will not follow that person, mostly because there is no real "bond". Sorry if I come off wrong, I don't mean to rude, I'm just giving you some insight to maybe help enhance your family/band/guild/clan some more.

There will probably be 100s of ronin guilds. Good luck Ronin in your adventures. There's really not a whole lot of differences between most of the ronin/ninja families so far. Possibly as the game gets closer or the game is released several of them will unite. Feel free to have whatever family you want to as long as you have the proper requirements to start it.

There's really not a whole lot of differences between most of the ronin/ninja families so far.
Well, there's only 2 predominate ninja families (ronin are somewhat a different category in itself) and their ideals, philosophies, and goals are far from the same if anything, heh.

Like think how you would stand out from the other mercenary families, why would someone choose your family instead of Kiri Shini, Gokai-Shido, and Akutenshi.....but I digress, haha I stretched this post too far. Well, you said you supposively have 5 people lined up, so I guess it doesn't really matter than does it, but I think I made my point anyway, heh.

I don't mean to butt in but I don't remeber posting that half the earnings go to me. In fact I'm not the official leader of the Gokai-Shido. We believe in total freedom of choice for the group. I am merely a representative of the Gokai-Shido and leader in name only. We are more a a democratic type of system where we all decide what the groups next move is. Maybe I did not explain that thoroughly in my posts, i don't know. Anyway I just wanted to clarify that. We decide who gets there cut of the profits depending on if they participated in said mission.

Example: if four people participate then those four will split the reward into equal shares. End of transaction. Its very simple and fair, which is why I chose it as our means of operation.

a Kenshi is generally a regular swordsman they have more respect than ronins do becuase they were usually trained by good dojos
