In game I will be known as Uchimaro. I am looking to co-create or join a family devoted to becoming Magistrates for the Shogun. Magistrates are the ones who hunt ninja and investigate organized crime. I have seen a trend of many players wanting to become ninjas or rebel leaders. What Tatsumaki is going to need is a group of players ready to dish out punishment for breaking laws and attempting assasinations. I would like the family or clan to focus on protection of high ranking officials. If anyone interested in creating such a family, feel free to drop by and add to the creation of this family. No name has been selected yet, plus I do not have the power to create a family.

Just let me know,
Uchimaro

Finally, a player who actually wants to be the law! This is a great development. I would love to see how your family interacts with the Kiri Shini. :)

Well judging from your family's description, as well as many others, I can tell there are going to be some bloody battles. If you don't obey the law, you will have to deal with me (until I can get more members). Taking the position as Magistrate, means you will be fully devoted to destroying all who question the Emperor.

i could help... if you are willing to have a less honorable person to uphold the law, i am ruthless when it comes to rebels.... unless i am one of them.... even if i don't get into a family i will try to raise a personal unit and strike down commanders, my way.

Duty and Honor is everything to a Magistrate of the Shogun. If you are striking down those who are wanted by the Magistrates, more power to you. If you happen to cross that line and kill someone not wanted by us, the investigation may turn on you. I have no problem sending my own men or even family to death if they happen to break the law. There is no room for corruption within the Tatsumaki Magistrates.

I have started to think it over and may settle on not creating a family but rather the "Tatsumaki Magistrates". Members may have their own surname and may be from other clans or families. These members must also remember that at any moments notice they may have to turn against their own brother.

the family isnt actually a family, its just a better name for clan or guild.

Even so, family, clan, or guild; members are welcome and will be considered a magistrate retainer.

Magistrates carry out the justice in Tatsumaki. Magsitrates are given the Emperor's authority, if no Emperor is present then the Shogun. In other words, questioning a Magistrates authority is questioning the authority of the Shogun. Magistrates meet once a month (in our case probably week) to report their activities to the Chief Magistrates. The position of Cheif is a life-long position. Magistrates also monitor all wars that go on within Tatsumaki, if they are not justified, the Magistrates will step in and settle the problem themselves. Magistrates are rewarded for good service and can be removed if they fail their duties and many of these duties will bring fame and glory to the Magistrate's family/clan/guild.

What is with all the ninja hate? heh. Not all ninja are as you think they are.

Taking the position as Magistrate, means you are pretty much declaring war on almost every family created so far.
^ well, not mine really since we are "good"-natured, unless you provoke us.

If memory serves me correct, didn't some of the Shogun use ninja operatives? Heh, anyway, yea you should post this in the "general" thread if this is not going to be a family. And you said that "members must also remember that at any moments notice they may have to turn against their own brother", I think you will have a hard time finding members that will turn against their own (thus why maybe you should somehow make this a family).

It is true many Fuedal Lords employed ninja, but they were not reguarded as honorable people. I skimmed through many of the families descriptions; I was looking for a family that is truly devoted to the Shogunate. Your family may have good intentions, but do they work for the Shogun. I wouldn't mind having an alliance with a "good" natured Ninja family, as long as the leaders understand that the Magistrates will not stand for any corruption.

As for turning on your own brother; I pretty much meant that, if that person has failed his duties or is found committing a crime of any sort, they may be asked to leave the Magistrates.

To make my life easier, I will create a family called the "Tatsumaki Magistrates", once I get enough posts in.

So if anyone is interested in joining just drop me an e-mail and we can bang out some ideas for the family. Remember this idea is still up in the air, and nothing has been finalized.

Oh and Jin thanks, I think I needed to re-read what I posted. The Magistrates were coming off as arseholes. I will try and refine it a bit so we sound a bit nicer.

As always, I am open to suggestions,
Chief Magistrate Uchimaro

Looks like I may have a enemy here.... YAY! If you are looking for someone to monitor, you will have to like stalk them, so good luck with that

Of course monitoring certain crimes and investigations will be tough. I assume if a high ranking NPC is assasinated in game, that there will be some sort of news. If players are able to rise up against the Shogun, don't you think word would spread across the countryside of Rebel army looking to overthrow the Shogun.

There are also families and players that are not geared towards war. If they are attacked by someone or a group of people, they can report it to us (me for now). We will handle it to the best of our abilities. I am not saying that the Magistrates are going to purge Tatsumaki of all corruption, but the stuff we do find out, will be dealt with.

I have also thought of many other ways to monitor families; such as paying certain players to be a retainer/spy for the Magistrates and bring us weekly reports. Those that join the Magistrates will be compensated greatly, whether it be a new sword, paying for new training, or just knowing that they will be protected at all times.

then you should get a lot of buisness out of us, but if we find a spy, we will come after your head :D

Come on ronin, the Magistrates do not appeal to you? Becoming a Magistrate grants you the ability to pick a fight with anyone who has committed a crime. You will be paid if you are a Magistrate, it may not be alot, but it is enough to live off of. As a Magistrate you will be entitled to all items created by fellow Magistrates, swords, armor, and even food. If we see it fit, we will pay for you to advance any training that interests you. You will not be restricted just to Magistrate duties, you can take outside jobs such as transporting, bodyguard work, and anything else that is honorable.

I want all Magistrates to be secure and safe.

Hmm, I just realized that Tokgawa Ieyasu (1st shogun) became shogun in 1602. Since this game is based in the early 16th century, there shouldn't be a shogun yet right?

I guess we're not really following the history of Japan exactly anyway heh, just thought I'd mentioned it. I'm wondering from a developer though, who will be in power, the shogun, the emperor, or the various daimyo's.

You see... i'm just to.. unhonourable to join the magistrates, but please do pm me and we can work something out, i am sure of it. Having the soon to be largest merc. band can bring it's advantages....

If there is a Shogun, it will probably be Tatsumaki's first ever, which could lay way for some rocky events in the near future. Either way, the Magistrates will stick by whatever Shogun is in power. If the current Shogun is overthrown, the new Shogun will be able to utilize us.

On a side note, instead of "Tatsumaki Magistrates" I was thinking of either "The Jade Magistrates", let me know what you think. Even if you don't plan on joining I could still use alot of help piecing together the family.

Jin, the Emperor will probably be the main GM for each server. Since it would take an enormous amount of time, energy and effort, the title of Shogun is still debatable. Having a Shogun in place takes into consideration that all the warring families have been unified, and there is no more internal strife in Japan.

It was the bakafu or military powers of each family and clan that actually held the power during the time. The void of power created by a rift in the Emperor's Court is what ultimately lead to the Feudal State of Japan. Here's a a link to an essay I wrote on the subject - http://www.eoeforums.com/showthread.php?t=158&page=2&pp=10 In it you find the major turning points for a shift from political power to military, thereby creating the feuds in Feudal Japan.

Sykoi might be able to answer this in more detail, but this what I know of the subject.

As stated in earlier posts, the Magistrates will be the voice of the Emperor or Shogun. From the looks of Shinin's post it seems that Magistrates will be strictly following the Emperor. If you have any questions to what I have posted so far, feel free to drop a comment or two.

If you are interested in helping create the Tatsumaki (or Jade) Magistrates, send me a personal message. I could really use the help...

I really like the idea of this family. I thought it would be fun to roleplay a politician or possibly an attorney that prosecutes criminals. Sort of like a textbook crusader type. I also thought, if you have a totally straight law giver during the day, you could be a thief or miscreant by night.

The law giver would in essence be putting his competition out of bussiness with his day job, and leaving the doors open for more corrupt actions with his thievery. I have decided against such actions for the time being.

Thanks for the kind words Shinin, and you gave me a great idea for titles or ranks that I could give certain members "Attorney". This person would be like a human database for on-going investigations.

Me not knowing how the family system works, I managed to send a request to the Blood Wheel Clan and they allowed me to join.

Either way, I still plan on creating the Tatsumaki Magistrates as soon as this mistake is corrected. I will be updating the Tatsumaki Magistrate's information and will be posting it in a new thread. In it I will provide a bio, history, ranks, and everything else that is needed.
