I'm sure some of you have noticed my absence over the past two days. I finally rented this game with very high hopes. I found it to be less than I expected. The story could have been fleshed out a little more, and the plot was just splurted out in cutscenes so fast you don't know what's going on. The animation during conversations are annoying and look less than they should be. I'm not saying the game isn't good. It has a fresh feel to it, and a very interesting fighting system for an rpg. It's a good game, but to me, it came up short.

I do agree with you, though. Jade Empire was a fun game, but the game fell short. I didn't like the lack of character customization (cosmetic and statistic), and I really didn't like the length of the game.
I honestly didn't like the battle system much, either. In contrast to KOTOR, it was much too simple. I picked up KOTOR 2 thinking I would be able to satiate my thirst for a good RPG, but it ended up actually being worse than Jade Empire. :\

I usually like my games short, but I found Jade Empire was way too short. It lacked places to visit, and time to kill. The whole game you feel like you have to rush from place to place. It wasn't open enough, it was too linear, and not very many options, despite what it claims. Nevertheless, it got my attention for the two and a half days it took to beat it (on and off, I'm no power gamer). And that's saying something! I don't play many games, and get bored of them quickly. There have been times that I've rented a game, and not even popped it in my system. It's good, but it could have been a lot better.

i didn't like anything about jade empire. i don't like the combat system or the combat options and just the fact that it was basically KOTOR with a new skin really annoyed me at all times. only took me like a day or so to beat, and i am a power gamer (sorry :( )
overall i think it was better than alot of other RPGs out there, but i'd take KOTOR and FF-style over JE. KOTOR just because i like glowing sticks (AKA lightsabers)
