Tatsumaki Webcomic - Joint project. [Archive] - Eyes Out Entertainment Forums

Ok, everyone, right now, we're looking to start a Tatsumaki based web comic, at this point in time we are looking for the following to participate:

-artists (concept sketches, sketching panels, inking, etc.)
-CG artists (coloring, CG effects- blur, words, speach balloons)
-Story creaters (pretty straight forward, you will create the story for the comic)

Also, at this time, we're looking to the forum users to create one or more main characters for the comic, we'll probably need a background, personality/physical description.

I'd also like to know if everybody would prefer anime styled art or more western style characters.

i think it should be anime, since Tatsumaki is japanese :dunno: , oh, and if this is an application thread, i'd love to apply as a concept artist, not the finishing work though. think Hiromi might fit very well for that job.

i dont think im pretty good at RPing or stories, but hey, im knowledg-able about how to make something/someone mysterious and uber sounder. :D my work can be found in the Bountiful Bounty thread. :p

Personally I think a more traditional feel to the style would make it look a bit cooler... Not true traditional Japanese art, but something similar mixed with a tid bit of anime style.
(As is the style of Tatsumaki - its in the 16th century, but no doubt appeals to anime fanatics :p)

The story and/or background behind this should be the basis of the design, nothing else.
Base the style on the story, not the story on the style ;)

I check the forums on a daily basis so if you could use me to help write a story/character development id be more then willing to help. To take a mans life isnt dont yet but I plan on writing more once it is.

Personally I'd like to see a whole arc of stories dabbling from the writing team's work, to roleplaying threads.

okay, so said before in another thread, but i'll post it here since this is official. How about, the story, or concept of it; is freelance. start off with a couple of stories, and later(if possible) we can take stories from the forums that are popular or good. We would have 2 kinds of catagory, like ones that are contemporary, and those that have its own series?

Sort of in the fashion of 'Pulp Fiction' directed by Quentin Tarantino?

If you haven't seen it, it basically has an over all plot, but there's also subplots and the film kind of jumps between them. It maybe confusing to some readers, but it's a nice effect, it will add some suspense to certain stories, and help to cut off stories that are getting too long.

Anyways, Toshimaru, I've seen you're art, and you're very good, so I say Yes to you being in on the drawing, you only want concept though? I don't think Hiromi will be all that available, as she took a spot on the dev. team (so I hear anyways), so it would be very helpful if you would do full drawings, not just concepts.

Moses and Selmo, I'll read those threads right away and see how I like them.

i prefer:

Character Design - less work for me, i mostly work with humanoid figures
Scenery Design - Draw the concept backgrounds for ideas
Camera Angle? - dont know the real term, but i'd take what goes into which frame for most cinematic effect.

but, if something needs work on, ill take anything you throw at me. i wanna prove my worth with this project. To me, and to others. BTW - im taking video production class, its freaking fun.

Toshi, if you'd prefer those which you stated, I'd prefer you do the backgrounds, as I don't do well with backgrounds. Since you're in video production classes, I figure you'd be good at the View Angle as well (I also think backgrounds and view angle go hand in hand).

Selmo, I read you're posts and I would enjoy it if you were on the Story team, Tenchijin is also welcome if he'd like, as well as Tomoshibi. Moses, I did not find alot of your posts on the Bountiful Bounty thread, but what I did read, I liked, It was mostly short and to the point, which is how I feel the writing should be for a web comic, as it'll most likely only be about 6 panels posted at a time, so there won't be alot of story involved. Take note of that Selmo, Tenchi and Tomo.

Oooh, looky! I log on to the forums and see this interesting little piece on a tatsumaki webcomic. I would be overjoyed to help on the project, once it gets started. I'll start posting ideas as soon as someone begins a thread for characters/story plots. The idea of multiple story arcs sounds interesting as well. It would be great if they occasionally converge with each other from time to time as well.

Shad0w, you're most definitely in, and Tomoshibi, moses already volunteered you for the story team, lol.

Shinin, I figure you'll mostly be working with the story team to give them an idea of what was realistic during that era, though when the drawing team gets started, we may need some help with how certain objects looked.

I'll have more information later, right now I'm still trying to get someone for the CG team, if we can get Hiromi and a few others as good as her then we'll probably do full color. If we can't get Hiromi, then we'll probably just pull some Sin City style black and white, but make blood red, etc...

and i would like help with creating the actual characters (I cant draw so ... go mental concepts! woo) or something... i wanna help heh

We made some really solid progress tonight on this project. Slots, get with ninjaX or Toshi, I'm totally for you being on concept team, but it's more a team oriented thing, but ninjaX's overall idea.

I'd like to see it kept wide open for style, genre, everything.
Give 'random' stories to the artists and let them draw in the style they are most comfortable with.
Mix up what genres each artist gets, too.
Give Hiromi an action story first, then send her a comedy, etc.

Keep things fun and unpredictable (kinda work in the Tatsumaki theme).

As mush as I'd like to have everybody work on it, we have the majority of the team created already, though, if you want to contribute to the comic, just post a story in the Role-Play forum, as that's where most of the stories are likely to come from, you can even submit it to one member of the story team.

At this point I think all we're looking for would be CG artists to possibly color, add text, etc. etc. . Though now that we've discovered Tenchijin doesn't want to work on the comic, we have a spot for one more concept/story spot open, so please, PM me with a link to some of your posts/stories, and I'll see which seems most suitable for the comic. Thanks everyone who's gotten/getting/trying to get involved, it's been a real help and I wasn't sure how many people would go for it.

The best way to be in the comic is to participate in the roleplaying threads, and continue to write stories for the roleplaying forums. There will be guest appearances/cameos in future storylines. Since this is a community project, we'll try to include as many members as possible.

Ok, i know that the story team is pretty full, but I would really like to join it.

Err.. I dont have many stories or posts here in the role play forums, and the ones i do do are just short bursts. But stuff i would like to do mostly concerns plot, suspence scenes, fleshing out and detailing (most of all), etc. as i do not do very well starting the skeleton of a story.

Oh yeah, just incase it would help my cause, i finished primary as DUX of the school, one of the highest litracy things, and have gone through year 7 and most 8 at the excelled english and literacy class (7E1, 8E1). I also ace any story, detailing and/or other writing assesments given to me. Plus i did several years debating, and a few months public speaking. (I seriously dont know how they will help but what the hey, if they help my cause they help my cause =P)

ShininShado saw my work and suggested I apply as a CG artist for the comic. Though I'm new at this, I think I can do a pretty good job (examples of my work are in the Official Art Thread). If you think you can use me...let me know! :)

Well, yes I know that you are kinda full, but i would like to join the team as a writer. I know it would be kinda cluttered with so many ideas from so many people floating around but I would sincerely enjoy being on the team.

Oh and one question:

I take it that since your doing the bb story that you will also be using the Tea House story as well?
