View Full Version : No Credit Card, No Problem!

A lot of people seem to think you need a credit card to use paypal. If you make your account you have the option of routing your bank account to paypal. I find this a lot safer, as in my case, I have opened a special account for online transactions and will only have enough money to make my chosen payments. So for those who cry themselves to sleep at night because they don't have a credit card to preorder, the answer is right there!

How do you not have a bank account? Just walk over to a bank and get one.

basically all you have to do is do what Tenchijin said, goto a bank (make sure it's FDIC insured heh), and tell one of the people working there that you want to open a free checking account and they'll handle the rest basically, heh.

Some accounts cost ToshiMaru, some are free. Just tell them you want a student checking account, should be free.

okay, then whats in it for them? i've heard that it involves "Interests" but anything else?

A student savings/checking account sets the foundation for you as a customer at their bank. In the future, they hope you'll be borrowing for college/housing/etc, and hence the free account deal. As well, it is good for their public relations to "help" students learn the concept of saving.

saving... *shudders*

But you will need a parent with you when you go I believe, so grab yourself an old person and hit the bank.

Don't necessarily need a parent, just a cosigner over the age of 18.
And also, shin: Its free to open a checking account here, if you deposit $100 ;)

^ yea some banks also require a minimum amount in the free checking account, so be ready to deposit something that day, heh.

most student accounts don't need more than $20 to open one. But when you activate a paypal bank account link, make sure you don't try to guess the deposit amount, i think you get 2 tries, and then they disallow you to use the account. Just my luck... now I gotta fax some crap to them.

you tried to guess? lol, that's not very wise, were you in a rush or something?

I was too lazy to drive to the bank >.>
